Wedding Dress Spinoff - Did you stay away from a certain style because DH didn't like it?

I always envisioned myself having a big poufy tulle skirt. DH HATED tulle. About 6 weeks before we got engaged we were at my best friend's wedding and she had a tulle skirt - it was ripping all over the place. DH told me how much he hated it then - lol.

I really wanted one - but felt what was the point for my husband to see me walking down the aisle in a dress he didn't like.

I think I'm glad now I didn't get it - but I stayed away from even trying any one - so I wouldn't find one I loved!!

Anyone else?

No, I bought the style I wanted. I knew I didn't want anything poufy, and if DH wanted poufy I still would have stuck to the form-fitting style that I bought. Chat Icon

I don't think I ever had him in mind..we never had discussed dress styles he didn't like.

As selfish as this sounds, I did not consider his opinion in my wedding dress choice. He did know that I wanted to be a sexy bride and not poufy princess. He knew my dress would be different.

Nope.

If you asked him he was much more interested in taking the dress off than when I had the dress onChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Wedding Dress Spinoff - Did you stay away from a certain style because DH didn't like it?

I never asked.

But when I did pick one and told him it was off-white he was all annoyed "You should wear white on your wedding day." Chat Icon

I told him to shut up and trust me because if I hadn't told him he would have NEVER known the difference.

Plus, NO ONE was expecting ME to wear white!! Chat Icon

But, being a giant hypocrite, I made sure I had veto power on the tuxes!!

DH really had no opinion..we pretty much have the same taste, so I knew he'd like whatever I picked out.

He had no idea what it looked like until our wedding day.

I didn't ask his opinion. He knew I liked tulle but couldnt' find a dress that I liked. When I did, I would joke about having a January weddings & being a big snowball coming down the aisle. I definitely got a worried look. My dress was definitely my choice.

Re: Wedding Dress Spinoff - Did you stay away from a certain style because DH didn't like it?

No- but my husband really would have viewed me as breathtaking regardless of what kind of dress I wore.

If my husband specifically said he hated a style of dress, I would have stayed away from it- I wouldn't want to think he hated what I looked like on our wedding day.

Re: Wedding Dress Spinoff - Did you stay away from a certain style because DH didn't like it?

Luckily DH and I have similar taste-- but I would still have gotten a dress that pleased me and was what I always envisioned-- regardless, DH would have thought I looked beautiful and I would never have to regret not getting something that I always dreamed of.

Actually-- in thinking back-- I think he wanted me to be in more of an evening gown as opposed to a ball gown.

Re: Wedding Dress Spinoff - Did you stay away from a certain style because DH didn't like it?

No. I did not. I never asked his opinion because I felt like this was the one thing that I had total control over and the decision would be based on how I felt and looked in the dress. He had no clue what it looked like before the big day

MY HUSBAND WOULDN'T KNOW A BALLGOWN FROM A POTATO SACK!!!!!!

His only request was that I wear my hair down, which was a big inconvenience for me, so I did half up, which I thought was a nice compromise! Chat Icon

I didn't ask him his opinion - I just knew this because of his comments about my friends wedding dress - like Brianne said - why would I wear something specifically that I knew he said he hated - lol!

But yes - I too had a lot of say in the tuxes - lol!

My DH had no opinion. I never even bothered to ask, it was totally my thing and my decision. If he had hated it -oh well!
