We finished our basement (with pics)!
I'm so proud of hubby! He built the stairs himself and did a lot of the installation of the drywall, ceiling tiles and lights himself... here's some pics of before, during and after  Image Attachment(s):

Yeah, I was just as suprised that it came out so well! Those before pics are from the previous owners - we're not that cluttered, I swear!!

Thanks! Nope, not at all... let's see.. we totally gutted the basement. Ripped off the paneling on the walls (there was no framing behind it, just concrete walls), tore down the stairs and a few of the walls, so we had to start from scratch. We hired a handyman to help with buildling the framing, drywall, ceiling tiles and lighting, and he charged us $4k. We purchased all the supplies ourselves from Home Depot which ended up costing about $2.5k for the framing materials, drywall, ceiling tiles, paint, track lighting, and the materials to build the stairs. Add another $1k for carpeting (from Home Depot), so in total, it came to about $7.5k to totally gut the basement and rebuild it.
