Oh, Leslie....I feel your pain....on the "sick" level anyway..
Hopefully with the warmer weather will come a healthy new Abby....and life will be a little easier on all of you.

Continued strength....it seems we all need it these days.....Chat Icon

Re: We cannot catch a break here...(long)

It's hard, really hard, I know... nothing can really prepare you for that first year of illness after illness after illness when your baby is in daycare, and it takes such a gut-wrenching-guilt-ridden toll on the working mommy, ESPECIALLY when you don't have all the help of a nuclear family that others do.

But, I can speak from the other side Leslie, and I assure you, it does get better. Alex was sick at least twice a month until she was about a year old - it was heartbreaking to watch, but once she turned one, something clicked, her immunities kicked in big-time, and now, she hasn't missed a day of preschool in over a year due to illness.

And in the meantime, during the long road to getting to that point, remember all the people that are here for you Chat Icon Chat Icon

Thank you very much. This little princess-y girly girl is actually tough as nails. I know when push comes to shove, that all will be well and she'll be fine. I love her day care and know they keep the place clean and safe.

My family is more than willing to take days to help but they shouldn't have to. There is a tremendous amount of guilt I feel for not being able to stay with her all the time even when she is well, but when she's sick, my heart just breaks.

This morning I left her with goopy eyes, a raspy cough but a good spirit. Her Daddy steps up in such a way that makes me fall in love with him over and over. I came home yesterday to find Abby sleeping on DH's chest. I would have taken a picture, but DH would have killed me.

Thanks again for all the support. I appreciate the sounding board. I hope DH gets some good answers today and Abby is on a road to recovery. Even after all of this, I refuse to raise her in a proverbial bubble.

Oh and Abby is 8 months old today. If she is up to pics, ill take some later when I get home.

There is definitely something going around that is hard to get rid of. Both my children have been sick for most of the past month and haven't' been able to fight it off. Hopefully, once it's gone, it will be gone.

Leslie,

I am so sorry Abby and Ed could not be there with you yesterday at your Mother's unveiling Chat Icon I know what a difficult day it was and to not have them there for support (just a hug) must have made the day just that much harder.

I hope lil Miss Abby is soon on her way to being all better Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: We cannot catch a break here...(long)

I could feel the anxiety and pressure reading your post. As another full time working mother whose child is in daycare and does not have family that can help watch my son if needed, I feel your pain. It is so difficult when your DC gets sick, especially if you work. You are doing the best that you can. During these times, it is natural to feel lonely and miss your parents. I am so sorry that you are dealing with all of this. I hope you catch that break soon and your DD is feeling better!

I'm so sorry my friend. It is SO hard when they are so little and sick. On top of that, the emotional rollercoaster you must have been on this weekend just makes it worse. I hope Abby feels better soon. If you need to talk, please let me know as I'm here for you. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: We cannot catch a break here...(long)**UPDATE

Oh Leslie I am so so sorry. The nebulizer should really help the Bronchitis. I went through a bout of sickness with parker. (ear infections, bronchitis) for WEEKS. Same as you, we all rotated taking days off from work, and it gets hard. The nebulizer was a savior for us. It still took a while for Parker to feel better, but he could BREATHE, and had some relief from all his crazy symptoms within 24 hours of treatment.

All I can say is Spring is here, and hopefully that will bring an end to the chronic illnesses. I am sorry for your baby girl, I really do hope she is feeling better soon. It's so hard ot watch them be sick.

Also, I am sorry about having to be at your mom's unveiling by yourself, I am sure that was really hard. Anyway, I am thinking of you, and hoping everyone is better soon!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
