Watch News12 @ 5pm to see Ken Walking!!!!
Kenneth is going to be WALKING on the News tonight!! He is going to be on at 5pm on News12!!
When first hurt, both legs didn't move. Then, the left came back. He would walk and kind of DRAG the right along. Then, the right came back!! He went from parallel bars to walking with a cane. This Saturday is the MADD walk so News 12 wanted to film him and do a story promoting the walk.
Kenneth has set a goal for himself that by next year's MADD walk he will be WALKING IN IT!!!!!! And, at the rate he's going, we'll do it!
His story will be airing tonight at 5pm on News 12!!!

They didn’t think he would survive! But Nassau police officer Kenneth Baribault is doing much more than surviving…he’s walking again! Take a look at the picture taken today at his rehab session at Southside Hospital.
And obviously, the still photo doesn’t do it justice. Check out my full story on our website to really see how incredibly Ken is doing!
Tomorrow is exactly 2 years since he was nearly killed by a now convicted drunk driver who plowed into the back of his marked patrol car on the side of the LIE.
He was partially paralyzed and has a traumatic brain injury…which means he had to relearn pretty much everything. I’ve done this story many times…I remember waiting at Nassau University Medical Center for information about his condition a day or two after the accident. I covered the court case day after day. I’ve interviewed Ken and his family on several different occasions.
But today — I got to see Ken lift his right arm…the one he couldn’t move at all…all the way up to his chest…and then I got to see him walk!!! He’s cheered on every step of the way by his family who are so positive and supportive.
It seems as if Ken understands everything said to him though he is still working on his speech. His facial expressions are incredibly telling…I mention the Mets (his team even though they’ve hit a rough patch) and he rolls his eyes. I bring up fudge pops which I remember him saying he used to like an he shakes his head and says no then touches his stomach. He’s now on a diet and eats organically grown and healthy foods. So when I ask about junk food? He throws his head back a little and laughs…then says no…like he means it!
Ken and his family…along with other families directly affected by drunk driving…will be participating in the MADD Long Island walk this Saturday in Farmingdale at 10am.
Ken will be using his wheelchair this year…but is determined to walk the walk next year!

Ken looks GREAT!

RIGHT?!?!!!
His freaking facial expressions crack me up! They are so spot on and SO true to who he is and always has been. After walking, I'm like - are you tired? He goes, no! It's amazing.
It was so funny - my Dad the other night cut himself like a ridiculous piece of crumb cake and Kenneth gave him such a look like are you out of your mind?!! So, my Dad just starts eating it like nothing's wrong. Ken bursts out laughing and looks at me and gives my dad a look like, you can eat it, I'm not going to stop you, but I would ADVISE AGAINST IT!
It was priceless.
