UPDATE:Do ear infections clear up by themselves?

Turns out I have ear infections in both ears. One was so bad she couldn't even put the little light in my ear because it hurt so bad, but she said the other one was also bad and could have been in a text book as an example of a bad ear infection. I can only imagine what the other one looked like. My ear hurts SOOOO bad. PLUS I got conjunctivitis on top of that(The same bacteria that causes ear infections causes bacterial conjunctivitis) and I lost my voice. I am a MESS. Merry Christmas to me.

I know this is gonna sound like a silly question. But I went to the CVS minute clinic the other day because I was not feeling well. I had the chills and a fever and a sore throat. When I went she said that I had a little fluid in both of my ears. Well in the last 2 days the pain in my ear has gotten worse. She never gave me any antibiotics or anything and I was just wondering if its maybe because ear infections sometimes clear up by themselves. I can't ever remember having an ear infection, but with this pain I can imagine that this is what it feels like. Does anyone have any experience with adult ear infections?

If she saw fluid in your ear and it wasn't infected at the time, they wouldn't prescribe antibiotics.
You can have fluid in your ear that is not infected.
If it doesnt' drain and clear on it's own, it can get infected and that is when you will most likely need an antibiotic.
Sounds like yours might have infected which is why you are in pain.
I'd see a DR asap

Get yourself to an ENT ASAP. I had this and it was awful- I ended up having fluid trapped in my ears and needed surgery to drain it. If you need the name of a good ENT let me know. Feel better!

Thanks Ladies. I decided to go and get a really good decongestant and that seems to have helped the pain a lot. I think I was just soooo blocked up. I can not remember the last time I was sick like this. It feels like every year when I get sick it just gets worse and worse.

I was just put on Amoxicillin for an ear infection. It was so painful but the medicine helped after one day. Good luck
