UPDATED with story! Anyone know what's going on in Bellmore?
Thanks to GossipQueen, here's an article on what actually went down:
Police: Nassau PD tries negotiating with gunman in Bellmore
Nassau police were trying to reach a man who may have barricaded himself into a Bellmore home Friday after firing three gunshots on the street, twice striking a parked car.
Det. Lt. Kevin Smith, a spokesman for the Nassau County Police Department, said the unidentified man fired shots after four people came to his doorstep to "have a conversation" with him Friday afternoon..
No one was hurt in the incident.
But Smith said it was unclear Friday, three hours after the 2:15 p.m. incident was reported to police, whether the man with the gun had fled or if he was still inside the Boundary Road home.
"There was some kind of dispute, some verbal altercation, that resulted in this guy taking out his gun," Smith said.
He added that one of the three shots may have been fired by mistake as the man tried to strike one of the four people over the head. Smith said the four people who confronted the man may live in the area.
The other two shots were fired on purpose at the car and struck it on the radiator and a tire, Smith said.
Police negotiators tried to make contact with the occupant of 2800 Boundary Rd. as residents waited for their block to be cleared of police vehicles and yellow tape separating them from their homes.
"I just want to get home from work," one woman said as she stood, arms folded, on the outside of the tape.

There was a bank robbery and police chase.
Neighborshood schools and NUMC was in lockdown, but they found the suspects.

My stepsons go to the schools
06/20/08) EAST MEADOW - Long Island authorities say two bank robbery suspects have been caught on the grounds of the Nassau University Medical Center.
The search took several hours and resulted in a lockdown at the hospital and nine schools in the East Meadow School District.
No one was injured.
The robbery took place at about 9 a.m. Friday at a Bank of America branch in Bellmore, then the suspects headed toward the East Meadow medical center. One witness said they tossed wads of cash out the car window before fleeing on foot.
One suspect was caught hiding under a car in the hospital's underground garage. The other was captured as he tried to walk off the property.

WHOLE COOKIES!!! thats right near me. Alot of Banks are getting robbied on Hempstead Tpke in East Meadow.. it feels like another bank every week.. i wonder if these are the same people doing them.

The bank was on merrick road in bellmore that was robbed...it was a Bank of America

The situation by my friend in Bellmore is some guy is holding someone hostage in his house. The house in right behind my friend's across the canal. There are FBI and Marine Bureau agents in her backyard. Shots were fired earlier and some of the schools are on lockdown. It's not related to the bank robbery in East Meadow this morning.

I knew I could look for answers here. I live a few blocks away and was just driving to the store and had to be detoured from the cop cars. Lots action...people are everyone, cops cars have all the streets locked down but I had 2 kids in teh car and no time to stop to see what is going on....I have to head out to see what is going on later....

judith is closed from boundary to patricia. len is closed the same. boundary closed bellmore ave to dead end. appears the situation whatever it is - is on boundary towards the end

I did hear another rumor from a neighbor that a kid killed his father/parents and ran and they haven't found him yet. Not sure which story is true.
There was an eyewitness news van at the scene when I left for the store and 20 minutes later I saw it leaving the site but haven't seen anything on their website.
