UPDATE!!! GRRR, Medical Related
Ok, so some of you may know I'm getting my thyroid removed 1/14 (because of graves disease). I spent 4 hours in pre-op at Stony Brook yesterday. I'm already not happy about going to Stony Brook, but that's where my doctor is.
So, I get a call today that they have to retake my blood work because my hemo something is too high (clots my blood). So I had to fight for them to allow me to retake the test at quest (because the pre-op at Stony Brook is only open 7-4 M-F). If my levels don't improve, I'm going to have to speak with a hemotologist and post-pone my surgery. This is a major grrr since this process has already been 6 months.
Just needed to vent!! I swear, I can't stand the medical industry. I know they have my best intrested and could only do the pre-op within a week of the surgery, but couldn't we have tested all this crap earlier. I'm worried because I started taking the iodine this AM (which I was told to take 10 days before the surgery). Your body can only handle so much iodine in a year, and if the surgery doesn't go as scheduled, I'll have to retake this (which could lower the chances of TTCs).
UPDATE: Just got the retest results and my pre-op levels were off, but this Saturday they were back to normal, so I'm all clear for Surgery next Monday. YIPPY SKIPPY!! Once that's done, I'll probably start TTC's come March!! Thanks all!!

I'm sorry - I know it *****, and I'm sorry you are so frustrated. I'd be upset and frustrated, too.
Just remember that it's worth investigating what they want to, even though it's annoying and frustrating. Pre-op testing in my father saved his life. I'm NOT trying to scare you -- just saying there really IS a reason for all these tests and for doing them so close to the surgery.
I REALLY hope this is nothing and your surgery happens soon without a hitch.
And I'm sure you know all of the above already and are still frustrated --- and that's totally understandable.
I hope your re-tests are fine and your surgery happens soon... and when it happens, I hope it goes well.

sorry you are going through this, and for the delay in your surgery! i am sure the whole thing is frustrating and i hope it all gets taken care of quickly! good luck with the testing and the surgery - i hope it all goes well!

Kery I had no idea of all this, I'm so sorry!!!
Trust me though, if there are any problems, this is the time you want to find out. Hopefully, things will work out ok and you can proceed as planned.

I remember you telling me via FM. I'm actually kind of excited!! Did you have any troubles TTCs on Synthroyid? And how long did it take for your synthroyid dosage to remain consistant?

I'm glad everything got straightened out, good luck with your surgery. My boss has Graves, he is much better since he had his thyroid removed.
