*****UPDATE 6/14 THEY OFFERED ME THE JOB!!! I got called for a 2nd interview!
I went on my first interview yesterday morning for an admin. asst at a college here in FL. It was kinda intimidating with 5 people in the department asking you 3 questions each... but I did fine. I got a call an hour ago asking me to come in thurs for a 2nd interview to meet with 1 person!
I've never had to go to a 2nd interview before (my other 2 jobs I got after 1 interview) so what should I expect? Do I negotiate the salary or wait until they actually offer me the job??
TIA and wish me luck!
*UPDATE 6/7: The 2nd interview went REALLY well this morning and the supervisor basically told me that I got the job. My old boss already called to tell me they called her for a reference. I'll know for sure when HR calls me.
*****UPDATE 6/14: I got a call today from HR and they offered me the job! I start July 2nd. They even offered me $2k more than they originally said since they felt I was highly qualified. It's still not as much as my old job in NY was paying but benefits are 100% paid (woohoo!) and I get all the school holidays off, including 2 weeks for christmas, spring break, etc!

totally a good sign- you will most likely have to meet with the head person
I would save salary talks for when you meet with HR when asked- you might have to meet with HR after- which would be a really good sign

I'd say that's a GOOD sign!!! They will probably have you meet with another "head person" who will more than likely ask you the same questions again (consistency) and just "feel you out". I'd say wait until they offer the job before you start negotiating salary.

ETA: How GREAT if you get the job..you'd have alot of holidays off !!

Good luck! I work at a college and generally the first interview is the group interview that you just had, and then 3 people are called back for a second to meet with the department head or whatever. I would not negotiate salary at this time, and be warned that if it is a public college there is little room for negotiation. Administrative college jobs don't really get much time off though, contrary to what people believe! I work between Christmas and New Year's, etc.

Good luck! I would take it as a good sign though. Do not discuss salary though until you are offered a postion. I would think you are going to meet with a head...

If they ask you what salary range you are looking for, then you discuss it but you can negotiate salary after you are offered the job.

I work in a college and have never met with HR. It's different than the corp. world.
