Um... Denny's Childrenswear... am I missing something?

I walked into Denny's in Plainview today and ... um... I don't get it.

I figured - wow... this place must have really inexpensive stuff because it just seems so DISORGANIZED inside. I couldn't find anything for my baby except two pairs of pants - one "workout" adidas pants and one pair of cotton cargo-type shorts. They both had the prices crossed out and it said "discount taken at register".

Then I got to the counter and my theory of them having cheap stuff flew out the window when my total was $50 for TWO pairs of pants! Crazy! I didn't buy them and left.

What's the fascination with that place? I really don't see myself going back.

What's your favorite children's store - especially for boys? I usually go to Kohl's, Carter's, Macy's or The Children's Place. What else is out there that I'm missing?

Re: Um... Denny's Childrenswear... am I missing something?

Honestly I agree with you. I went when I was pregnant, to see what the buzz was about. I thought the clothes were awful and the store was a mess.

I just said this week, let me try again. A different location. I once again thought the clothes were awful, the racks were a mess, etc. It *looked* like a discount type store with the mess...but I don't believe it is one. I didn't even look at a price b/c I walked right out. Soooo not for me.

I like to buy much of my DDs clothes at the Gap. Love the Gap stuff for kids. I also buy some things at Children's place and occassionally Gymboree.

I think Macy's has a dreadful selection. Just too skimpy and not my style for my DD.

ETA_ when my DD was little, I bought alot of Carters and OshKosh.

If I had a boy, I would shop at the same places I do for DD currently.

So interesting to read this. I've never been to Denny's, but I just called them today about a layette, and was planning on going there with my mom...maybe I should rethink this!

I thought the same thing. I walked in once to the Plainview location, did a lap around DD's section and left. I didn't like the prices and nothing was really my style. I didn't even know where to begin looking because the racks were a mess like you said! I love shopping for DD at the Gap.

Isn't Gap just awesome? So cute (boys and girls) and functional too. Most of my DDs wardrobe is from there. I also love buying boy's gifts there too.

To the OP...Target has some cute stuff too. Cherokee brand is nice. You could look in Old Navy too. I only went once, so I dont recall but I bought a few things back then.

It just depends on what style you like to dress your kids in. I have 2 girls and like the blingy type stuff. I love tie dye, rhinestones and anything that's like the burn out t's. My favorite store is Denny's. I can't buy everything in there as much as I'd like ti because of the price. But my taste is this type of clothes over children's place, gap, etc. I do shop at gap and cp because it's much more reasonable and kids destroy clothes but my dream is to walk into Denny's and just pick out whatever I want and buy it Chat Icon

I have to disagree. I LOVE Denny's! I go to the Commack location and don't find it to be disorganized like you describe the Plainview store to be. Although I usually shop at the Gap, Denny's clothes are hype and really special!!

Agreed! I did dd # 1's layette there. I wouldn't buy things like wash cloths or towels bc that u can et cheaper at like bru or carters but Denny's is great for special stuff - take home outfit, a bunch of cute outfits and onesies when people come over to see the baby, fancy bibs and burp cloths.

Re: Um... Denny's Childrenswear... am I missing something?

never been to denny's but I shop CP because of the price. I got DS a pair of jeans from their clearance sale for $2.99!!! You just can't beat that. I'm not CRAZY about their style but for basics and price CP is awesome. For more fashion forward gap...but being my guy is so little therefore growing out of clothes quickly I personally will only shop their sale racks. Carters is also awesome and reasonable.

Yeah, I agree! I LOVE denny's, they have stuff that no one else has and its so cute! Every time I go in there I see 20 things that I want to get DD-its very easy to get in trouble there-They are expensive but thats why you wait for the crazy sales :) I go to the one in Little Neck and its not disorganized at all.

I could not agree more. I went once and walked right out. I thought the store was completely disorganized, the clothing was nothing special and the prices were out of control.
Gap is my favorite but I also like Carters.
I order DD's headbands from Etsy or at street fairs.

ITA. Went once with my friend and we both walked right back out. Too rich for my wallet lol and half of it wasn't worth it IMO.

I love Old Navy & Carters especially at the outlets.

Dennys is not my taste but it seems pretty popular. I like Old Navy, CP, Gymboree, Gap, Carters and Osh Kosh for my kids.

thats so funny you mention this. I walked into the Oside location today for the first time. I wanted to see if they had any cute clothes for my Chat Icon on the way. I didnt see anything under size 12months so I left. Maybe I just didnt look hard enough. But when I walked in I felt like I was in a flea market. Just clothes everywhere and its all tie dyed !

Re: Um... Denny's Childrenswear... am I missing something?

I think the clothing costs more than I want to spend on every day outfits for my kids. Some of it is cute, but I feel that I can get a better value for my dollar at the gap, gymboree, children's place, crazy 8, old navy, macy's and lord and taylor. But in life I have realized to each his/her own. I am not spending your money and you don't have to spend mine. If you like it for your kid, and can afford it, good for you.

Is Gap much cheaper than Dennys? What do most items in Dennys even cost (I didnt even look at one since I hated what they had). OP....Gap is definitely not on the cheaper end in the scheme of what kids clothes cost in all the stores, IMO. I bought 7 summer things for my nephew there (2 tshirts, 1 collared shirt, one button down shirt, 2 shorts and one bathing suit) and spent 140 whereas you could get loads for 140 at Target or Carters or even OshKosh or Old Navy of course. A pair of shorts for boys at the Gap was 24.99, as were the full price bathing suits for boys.
