two month olds and sleep

How much does your DC sleep? How long can he/she stay awake?

DS is 10 weeks - he usually takes a 2-3 hr. nap in the am, then maybe 2-3 other naps of anywhere from 30 min. to an hr. and then sleeps 8 - 9 hrs at night. He seems to stay awake 2 hours at a time - sometimes 3.

Re: two month olds and sleep

DS sleeps a few more hours than that but pretty similar. He does 5 in a row at night, bottle and diaper, another 4, and then naps off and on all day pretty much with one biggish nap.

Re: two month olds and sleep

At our appointment last week (DS was 9.5 weeks), I asked our ped how much DS should be sleeping. He told me about 15 hours total - day and night. Unfortunately, DS sleeps FAR less than that. While his night sleeping is pretty good - he usually sleeps from about 8:30 AM - 4:00 AM, has a bottle, and then sleeps until 7:00 - 7:30 when he is awake for the day, he BARELY naps during the day Chat Icon

He really needs his naps, but he only likes to take a few cat naps. On a good day, 1 or 2 of his naps will last 45 min - 1 hour Chat Icon

I wish he would take naps like your son!

this was my dd too, but she turns 3 months old tomorrow and in just the last week or so has started lengthening her naps. still not continuous - she wakes for a pacifier after an hour but she still looks sleepy, so i give it to her and get another hour - definitely an improvement. there's still hope!!

Re: two month olds and sleep

So glad to hear my DS isn't the only lousy napper at this age. Right now, DS will go 4-5 hours from about 8:30 to 1:00 Chat Icon Chat Icon , then bottle and then wake about 5ish. Sleep till 7ish and have a bottle 8ish. Sleep from 9:30 until 11:30 for the next bottle. After that, it's a mixed bag. He will only nap in something that is moving Chat Icon !

Re: two month olds and sleep

DD is 3 months but now and when 2 months usually cannot be awake more than 2-2.5 hours, then she needs a nap. Takes several naps a day, some a half hour others 2 hours
