For those who haven't heard talk like this, I'm assuming it's because many men know how you would respond and deliberately avoid talking like his around you. That doesn't mean they don't talk like it at all.

No. My husband would NEVER speak like this about women with or without me around. He has respect for women. He is a son, a father and a husband and would never allow anyone to speak that way about the women in his life. Do not assume because the men in your life speak this way that it is the case for all men.

Agreed. DH said this morning that his friends talk about girls, but never like this.

Also, TMZ is reporting that this conversation started because Nancy O'Dell said no to Trump's sexual advances. He also wanted to fire her from hosting the Miss Universe pageant because she was too pregnant. NBC vetoed him. I personally have a new found respect for her.

Just because it happens all the time does not mean we should just sit back and accept it. Progress does not happen by sitting back and saying, "Well that's how it's always been."

That's crazy about Nancy o'dell. I believe it. Another woman even said that she remembers Trump had TicTac's and offered her TicTac's and then went in for a kiss.

what was so disturbing to me was how they were talking about this woman as their bus pulled up… And then they get off the bus and Billy asked her to give Trump a hug and he says it very slyly. And of course she's trying not to be rude or anything and she gives him a hug. And then Billy asks for one, again very creepily. And Trump and Billy kind a give each other a quick look…It's just so disgusting.

Can I ask a question

If someone
Says on the celeb board. He's a dilf. I want to
Ride him. Take your clothes off. Hammaconda

Why does nobody bat a eye

And yes I get the celeb board is running for president
But people have said in everyday world this talk is not acceptable. So shouldn't it be for everyone

Because he's not just a regular person talking about a celebrity in a photo who will probably never meet the person. He's not saying he wants to do xyz to some woman. He's saying he can do xyz to women he meets bc he's a celebrity. He basically implied that he doesn't wait for any sort of invitation and just kisses or grabs whoever he wants, he can't help it and he can bc of who he is. It's very different imo.

I want speaking about him

What I'm saying is people are saying they know no men who speak about a woman this way

But there is plenty of times a man is objectified and nobody would think twice

It almost seems to me that some women feel like they're in the cool crowd bc men speak like this in front of them. I know that's just my interpretation but it's the way it's coming across to me. I'm not going to say I've never heard anything remotely close come out of a guy's mouth during late night drinking and hanging out but it's not the norm and they sure aren't running for president. Women who sit by acting like it's normal are perpetuating it as normal and some poor woman down the line is going to pay for this talk when some guy goes too far. It's so sad and upsetting.

I posted that I hear men talk like that. I don't think I'm part of a cool club. I don't laugh with them when I hear things like that. I actually do my best to not react at all. If these men see me react in a disgusted way, they just won't work with me. I will lose their business. I pretend I don't hear it and go on my way. If that makes me part of the problem, so be it. I'm not throwing away everything I worked for to scold a bunch of men who have absolutely no respect for women. My opinion isn't going to change theirs.

Another thing that your post reminds me of is all the posts on the relationship board over the years about strip clubs. Some posters here think that if you don't allow your husband to go... you're not a "cool wife" and "insecure". Some posters here are actually so cool that they go with their husbands. So where does that fit into their feminist views. Strippers are ok to objectify because they get paid for it? I don't understand how it works and where the line is drawn.

I can't imagine being Ivanka right now. Imagine hearing your dad say that stuff? Just picture it.

And here you've been his big champion and trotted out to constantly say he respects women and he's for women.

For the record, I have been a Hillary supporter from the start.

I don't think what DJT said was that far off from what most powerful men think and/or say to each other on a daily basis. My husband is a police officer and in the military and I have heard him, his coworkers and friends say things that are just as bad, if not worse. I worked in commercial real estate in a male dominated office and heard it all there too.

Also, there are women who gladly LET these men treat them that way: objectify them, use them, pay for their lifestyle, etc. And not just in DJT's circles. They are known as "badge bangers" among the cops in my area.

I can't really get angry at someone for making those comments when I feel that many women play into that role and allow men to treat them that way.

This makes me so incredibly sad. What Trump said is not normal. Do other men talk this way - yes, for sure, but that does not make it OK! My husband is former Navy and retired FDNY - if I EVER heard him talk this way, we'd have a big big problem. Working in a "macho" field does not make the denigration of women ok in any way.

I also work in a highly male dominated field and have never heard any colleagues talk like this. If anyone, in any of the places I've ever worked, spoke like this, there'd be some major repercussions for sure.

I know talk like this goes on between many, many men and if you can sit there and say "Oh no, not my husband/brother/father!" then I think you're being pretty naive.

Really? I feel pretty confident that my husband would not say "just grab them by the p#$$y" and "I just grab them and kiss them."

I mean my husband got pissed at my MIL when she referred to his boss as his "lady boss." We were just on vacation and there were a group of Australians on a boat tour we were doing, so he was pretty happy to be by his fellow country people Chat Icon . Anyway they were talking about a politician there, Julia Gillard (if you want to see some serious misogyny look into what happened to her), and one of them kept calling her a "b*tch." My husband looked like steam was coming out of his ears.

So yeah, I feel pretty confident that he wouldn't say things like this. Other men I know, yeah, not so much.

One is objectifying. The other is perpetuating sexual assault.

Sorry, I would not have included you in the posters I was referring to. It's terrible that you feel you have to accept that behavior just to do your job. It's a horrible position to be in. I know I couldn't deal with it and you shouldn't have to. That's part of the problem.

I get what you're saying. I guess to me is the issue that some people interpret what he said as being the same. We've heard him objectify women plenty of times but this goes beyond that.

I have so many things I want to say, and hopefully will when I get a chance to get to my computer.

But for now I just want to say I'm a bit disturbed that a survivor of sexual assault posted on this thread about how awful hearing those words is for her - and yet there are still some people here saying it's no big deal and just how men are. That, to me, is pretty much as problematic as it gets.

What's shocking to me is that people who are quite right leaning and religious and conservative (and hey, I'm friends with some in real life and respect it. I'm right on some things, too) -- how THEY can overlook this. Or defend it. Or make excuses. They're supposed to be about family values and old traditions. They don't want transgender men in bathrooms or gays getting married. They say values and morals are spinning down the drain but somehow justify this. I don't get it.

I wish my conservative republican friends would at least say trump is awful after this of all things and rally to support Pence. Even though I don't agree with Pence at all. Or just say they won't vote this year because they hate everyone. id never expect them to vote Hillary (I won't either) but why not demand better? All I hear from my friends is that America is going to hell in a hand basket and lack of religion and values are destroying us. But this guy is still your guy? I don't understand.

No snark intended.

OMG! This is horrible. I'm so sorry.
And not to hijack, but I went on a job interview once for a very wealthy man. In the middle of the interview he asked if we were "going to have sex, or what?". I was shocked, excused myself and left. Thinking back, I should have reported him, but I was utterly shocked and wanted to just forget about it.

Exactly. If my husband dared to speak that way about any woman, we would not be married. He has 2 daughters and that type of behavior is unacceptable and he knows it.

And even if he was pigheaded enough to say such things, he is not in the public eye nor is he running for president.

Whether or not certain men talk like this (and yes, I am well aware of the fact that they do) this man has used his daughter to defend his vile words and actions. What is lower than that? And his son Eric defends him too, and is just as misogynistic, so clearly he has taught them this is "normal".
While Bill and Hillary are certainly no saints, I have never heard of them using their daughter to defend their actions and decisions when it comes to their marital issues and actions.
God help us all come November.

Thanks and I'm so sorry that happened to you! It's unfortunate that things like this happen. I wish I worked for a big corporation where I could report these guys and maybe something would be done.

I'm happy for the women that have never heard men talk like this in real life but it's more common then not. I'm not a fan of Trump and I'm def not defending him. Just because it happens doesn't make it right. I was just commenting that a lot of men do talk like this and it is a lot more common than some people think. Most of the men I work with don't have near the money Trump does, but they treat women similarly. I can't imagine how bad they would be if they had a lot of $$. I don't think this news will make any difference to his supporters.

Re: Trump recorded making extremely derogatory, lewd, and aggressive comments about women...

I've tried to stay away from politics because it is a VERY hot topic. I have not been interested in the political system, or voted in all the years I have been able to.
Do you know what got me to register to vote? TRUMP'S PRESIDENTIAL NOMINATION!
Be cause I need to know that I did MY part in trying to stop this man from becoming President.

This latest "news" is not shocking or disturbing, but proof of what a vile human he truly is. The office of POTUS is a powerful position, and one to which kids look up. I do not want my son to have a role model who believes it is ok to belittle and abuse women. I do not want my son to see a role model who has used and abused people, who has called them names and spoken against them, as the powerful human in the nation (possibly the world). I want him to grown up being proud to be an American not a laughingstock around the world.

I have spoken to my husband about this, and while he agreed that men do objectify women (just like women objectify men) no REAL man that he knows would ever say something this lewd about a woman, even in a group of males.

This is just another in a VERY long list of reasons as to why Trump will never get my support.

Re: Trump recorded making extremely derogatory, lewd, and aggressive comments about women...

I am disgusted by how many men and women think these words are no big deal. I would love to know if they would feel the same way if they were said to their daughters, wives or mothers!

It's one thing to say them. It's another when they are directed at someone you love.

ETS: And these men really need to consider this when they want to spew such disgusting words. This is at minimum sexual harassment an women should not have to put up with it.
