Okay, I'm not saying this is a good reflection in any way...but how is this different than the girls/teenagers/young adults that compete in dance? They too wear outfits like this (even skimmpier) and slather on makeup.
Not much of a difference when you talk about just the performance. Which btw..I can't stand when even younger girls do it either.
Anyone know how old the other 2 girls are in this video?

It's a performance...they're dancing.
Just curious...I honestly don't know anything about Theresa/her girls, etc....but to me, I watched the video first, and thought it was similar to the dance competitions I've seen in the past.
I know she put a load of $$ into it (whether she has it or not, is another story) but I'm strictly commenting on the girls/dance performance.
I agree. Britney was probably doing similar things at 13. That doesn't make it right at all, though.

Its probably not, but I dont agree with that either. No WAY would my daughter at 13 be wearing that much makeup, dressing like that and being overtly sexual in dance moves. Id pull her out of a troupe that did that in a second. I danced my ENTIRE life and not once did I look like that or have sexualized moves, even at 17, nevermind 13.

Agreed, I don't have a daughter but if her dance school recitals were all about sex & raunchiness and NOT displaying technique, which is the purpose of dance, then heck no she wouldn't be going there.
There is a difference with a music video where you are singing and moving like that. She is too young and I believe Britney was 16? And it was still controversy around her video, didnt make it right back then and doesn't make it right now. Also to be honest, with the mess Britney became, she isn't someting I would want my kid to aspire to be if they were trying to be a star.

Agreed. They look so trashy. The make-up is whorish and they aren't attractive.
Also- I think the "sexiness" comes from the way they are singing, licking their lips. It's something about their mouths.

whats weird to me is how Gia isnt embarrassed that her FATHER saw this video. at 13 I was too embarrassed to have anyone look at me because I was growing boobs. but to dance like a prostitot? NO WAY!

Ugh this is disturbing. I think it's gross for a dance troupe too. Why can't children be children and enjoy their innocence? How old are the other girls? They all seem to have bigger boobs than me.

I don't get it.
I am sure my DH is not alone when he says things like he would FREAK OUT if our DD ever dressed like that as a teenager.
I am sure most dads don't go around saying, yeah I can't wait for my DD to grow up and dress like a hooker.
So why is that these dads think it's great that their daughters are pimped out like hootchies?

I don't know the more I think about it the make up and moves kind of bother me. But if these girls want to be serious dancers, they need to start working hard now. Dance is so competitive and you need to get an early start. I mean their career should really be moving by the time they are 18. From what I understand, Gia has been involved in dance seriously for a few years.
Sadly, this oversexualisation is part of our society. I don't see it changing anytime soon.

The dads see  $$$. There's no other explanation. It's disgusting.
My DD is seven and takes dance and while she doesn't compete, she does dance in the annual recital and it blows my mind the way some parents make their little girls up. I can see not wanting them to look washed out under the lights, but I see no reason for full eye makeup, dark lipstick, etc. Last year a little girl from our scout troop came and said hello and I did not recognize her right away. So far my DD has no interest in make up and I am not rushing it.

Really inappropriate for their ages. I saw them dance at an event a while back, and they were cute, not sleezy. I'm NOT a fan of this at all. Gia has a manager, it's not her mom. It's the agency listed at the beginning of the video, Xist.
