personally, i wouldn't feel right doing it at a wedding.
i would, if i needed to talk to someone or text someone a message, go outside and do it -- if it was important.

I HATE people who have their stupid Blackberry or IPhone or whatever out and are texting away at a social function ...........SO SO SO SO freakin' rude !!
Unless you're preventing nuclear war, WHAT is SO important ?? 
And if you MUST make a phone call (check on your kids, call a cab - whatever) Leave the room and go out into the hallway ........
Agreed!!!!
I kinda wish we could all go back to life WITHOUT cell phones. Somehow, we all made it through the day, huh?

Yes, during a reception in the lobby area.
ETA: I think it's more polite than talking on a cell phone.
