summer beach house?
we would like to rent a family friendly beach house this summer somewhere not too far away for about a week. ANy suggestions? Where should I look for a house?

I'm not sure how far you are looking to go but last summer we rented a house in Rehoboth Beach, DE. We had a great time. The town is very family friendly and about 4 1/2 hours away. I highly recommend it.

I would check out Montauk. We rented a house out there years ago for a family reunion and it was a blast.

We have done Fire Island and the Jersey Shore. Both were great.
The Jersey Shore- depending on where you go, can be anywhere from 2-6 hrs away with traffic.
Fire Island, you can go right out of Bayshore, and the ferry ride is about 20 minutes.
Fire Island is aloooot more expensive than the Jersey Shore. They are both great.
Do online searches, it is the best way.

my parents have a vacation house down in the Outer Banks in NC... its gorgeous there, but probably further than you want to go ( its probably a 10 or 11 hour drive)
OR, the Jersey shore is nice, too. i grew up in south jersey, and went to college near Ocean City. its GREAT down there, too. and really family friendly- theres a boardwalk with rides and games and all that good stuff... its also a "Dry" town, so theres no bars, etc which helps keep away some of the sketchier people... lol thats probably a 3 or 4 hour drive.
