I washed & boiled them every night. The sterilizer would have been handy once I was back to work & they were in daycare since every night I was washing bottles...

never used one, in fact stopped boiling bottles at about 2 weeks.
(except for the first use of a new bottle)

I never used one. I boiled them before the first use, and then we wash them in the dishwasher, which my dr assured me gets hot enough that it sterlizes them.

I use it because I dont want to run the dishwasher daily. It is just easier for me to wash the bottles and then steam them

I still use it and Bella is 6 months old...it was so easy to throw the bottles in and press a button...especially when they eat like 10 times a day...

i went out and bought one last week and use it every day and think its better than the dishwasher. my dh stained two of the bottles in the dishwasher with tomato sauce so i decided to clean it seperately. you can also fit the breast pump accessories in it too.

In the sink with hot water and a bottle brush with soap. I've done that from the beginning. I boil everything from time to time but not very often.

I use mine all the time, my dishwasher takes around an hour and the steraliser only takes 11 minutes. I would say its worth having

Re: Sterilizer for bottles, etc. - is it necessary?

I just bought one but still think it's easier to just clean and boil everything in a huge pot. The sterilizer can only hold so much. I think the other way is more time effective.Chat Icon

I use my microwaveable sterilizer every morning. It takes only 4 minutes. When I run my dishwasher I put the bottles in there instead.

Re: Sterilizer for bottles, etc. - is it necessary?

i am curious, why are people still sterilizing bottles at 12 and 16 months??? Is there any reason for this? I mean, aside from the first use of a new bottle?? I only sterilized mine for about the first 3 weeks, then I just wash them with hot soapy water and throw them in the dishwasher every other day or so.
I did use the avent microwave sterilizer at work to clean my pumping equipment though.
