remember the million man march?

we need a million woman march.... we have to unite as a gender, develop some personal pride, and NOT stand by our man when he's doing seriously horrendous things behind our backs, embarrassing us, and even worse.... possibly slipping us a VD at night Chat Icon

I'm so tired of seeing shaken up women standing by these sleezeball politician husbands.

this is ridiculous. spitzer is just like giuliani. both of them had one good thread in their former legal past... but overall are NY train wrecks with their ethics.

I hope he's forced out of office ASAP.

I'm with you. I think it is disgusting that so many people in this country feel like women could not effectively run the government, but have NO problem with these men who are morally bankrupt, and on the taxpayer's dollar.Chat Icon

Re: Spitzer Involved in Prostitution Ring?

Let's bear in mind here that there is more to this story than just hiring a prositut. We're talking about SERIOUS federal crimes. In fact, the allegations arose from a tax investigation, and I find these allegations very troubling. This is NOT just about cheating on his wife and prostitution, though in my mind, that's bad enough...

It was a tax investigation that nabbed Chicago mobster Al Capone, linked to the notorious St. Valentine’s Day Massacre of rival gang members.

And it was a tax investigation that led to allegations revealed yesterday against New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer, the respected former state attorney general who reportedly linked up with a high-priced prostitute in a Washington, D.C., hotel on the eve of Valentine’s Day.

The probe began when IRS agents were doing a routine investigation of suspicious transactions reported by banks, the New York Times reports. They found that the governor was moving cash in an apparent attempt to conceal the source, destination or purpose, officials told the Times.

The money was being transferred to shell companies, leading investigators to at first suspect bribery or political corruption. The IRS agents began working with political corruption prosecutors in the U.S. attorney’s office in Manhattan, who received permission from the U.S. attorney general to proceed.

The probe soon found that the money was being transferred to pay the high-priced prostitution ring known as Emperors Club VIP, the paper says. The club used shell companies called the QAT Consulting Group, QAT International and Protech Consulting to hold money from clients who were willing to pay up to $5,000 for sex.

Spitzer made a statement yesterday acknowledging that he had violated his obligations to his family without specifically addressing the prostitution allegations, first revealed by the New York Times. A wiretap had captured Spitzer arranging to meet a woman employed by the club, and Spitzer had admitted to senior administration officials that he was involved in a prostitution ring, the Times story had said.

Speaking with his wife at his side, Spitzer apologized both to his family and the public. He did not take any questions from reporters and did not say whether he would remain in office.

I got a little lost yesterday with the story developments after I signed off. The first reports made it seem as though the prostitution ring was under investigation and they found Spitzer that way, but this new information sounds as though they were tracking odd money transfers between the governor's accounts. If so, how much more of a difference does it make really? I mean, the original reports claimed that when the prostitution rings are busted the "Johns" are usually not indicted, but if the investigation originated with Spitzer is he more apt to get indicted/charged?
