One of my coworkers gave me some really good ideas:
1) Snacks for DH
2) Baseballs in a sock to put on your back. She said that helped ease back pain for her.
3) A couple pairs of underwear you will have no problem throwing out since they may get destroyed.
4) A few pairs of socks for the same reason as #3
5) Book, ipod, something to keep you busy
6) cell phone charger
7) cell phone
8) camera
9) if you are doing stem cell storage, remember the kit
10) Nursing tanks/bras and comfy maternity pants
11) travel sized toiletries
12) slippers
13) make up
14) glasses/contacts and solution
15) home clothes for you and baby
16) paci for baby if you decide to use one
17) old bath towel cause some hospital towels are kinda small and may not cover the goods, yet they may get bloody so don't bring your best one
I'm sure there was more to the list, but that's all I can remember by heart. HTH

a nice big towel (so I can cover my fat asss after showering in case I have a roommate) 
toothbrush
toothpaste
comb
shampoo
conditioner
face cleanser
face lotion
body cream
contact lens case
saline solution
glasses
a few hair ties/scruncies
PJs
3 pairs of cotton maternity pants (like sweats but lighter)
3 big t-shirts
2 bras (I'll bring my nursing ones in case I decide to BF)
nursing pads
3 pairs of socks
slippers
sweatshirt
5 pairs of comfy granny panties
cell phone charger
camera
camera battery charger
a book
snacks (granola/fiber one bars, 100 cal packs, etc.)
ipod with charger (maybe... didn't use it last time)
my computer (maybe)
pictures of DD, DH and my SKs
decent outfit to come home in for me
makeup bag if I feel like gettin' all fancy 
DH will bring DD's coming home outfit the day we leave 
I think that's about it. Can't think of anything else I used last time around. HTH!

Camera, snacks and bottled water for dh, cell phone charger, three tshirts and 3 pairs of pants, lots of socks and slippers, toiletries, nursing bras and pads, 6 pairs of underwear, extralong super absorb pads (i hate the hospital ones), outfit for baby to come home in.. i think that is it but i am sure to think f more

I am bringing snacks for ME since with my first DC I gave birth right after hospital dinner service and after not having eaten in 2 days (inducement plus labor) I was ready to die and there was NO food!

I packed:
bath towel
5 pairs of undies
3 sports bras (i'm not nursing)
3 tee shirts
3 pairs of sweats
1 pair of pjs
1 tank
Maxi pads
shampoo,conditioner, toothbrush,toothpaste etc.
flip flops (for shower and to walk around. I hate hospitals so I am not bringing my good slippers.)
a sweatshirt
3 pairs of socks
my camera
Dh will bring phone charger & makeup. I cannot pack things I need everyday. He will also bring the babies bag with her take home outfit and mine.

I didn't go overboard last time and I won't be doing it this time either. I think the first 2 days I was in the hospital gown.
