Spinoff to my Spinoff: Should drivers, SPECIFICALLY those who fall under the statistic of having more accidents than other age groups have to be retested every year?

Again, I'm not sure how I feel about this.
One line of thought is that it would keep everyone on their toes but on the other hand could could be considerded discrimination.
What are your thoughts?

you know i always thought that older drivers should have to be rested every year after a certain age, but it never crossed my mind to test younger drivers - since they are statistically more likely to have car accidents as well.
i don't think it would be discrimination if the DMV decided to retest high-risk drivers every year, regardless of age - but i think that it would cost way too much money for them to even consider it.
better safe than sorry, IMO.

No. I think drivers that have more accidents should be retested every year. I do think they should retest senior citizens regularly. Although I'm not sure that would have helped my grandmother. She could drive fine. She didn't have the capacity to realize that the NORTHBOUND parkway was SOUTHBOUND parkway. Thankfully no one got hurt.
I have no problem discriminating against bad drivers. Driving is a privilege not a right.

I don't think retesting people would help. I mean, we all know what goes on during a drivers' test. They don't put you in real-world situations. The bad drivers 'know' how to drive, they just have bad habits which probably won't be found by retesting them.
I guess the state tries to 'update' drivers' skils by having those point-reduction programs, but again, give someone 50 bucks and you don't even need to show up.
I don't know what the solution is.
