spinoff to my own thread (1st bday)- January or Winter Mommies btdt and 1st time

I'm planning dd's party and I can't help but feel nervous that I'll do all this planning and spending and end up with a Blizzard the day of the party. Anyone feel like this? BTDT moms has it happened to you?

YES! DS is 1/24 and I know it will snow, because I have the worst luck. I had to check before making plans that is wasn't the superbowl, because I was already informed "It wont happen that day". I figure it like this. We are having an immediate family party, about 50 people. If they want to truck it in the snow, they will. If not, DH and I will be there and we will make it as wonderful as we can. And then have massive leftovers.

DS first bday is 12/30, so I'm close! lol. It snowed the day after he was born, so there is a very high chance it will snow this year too. My family is close so that won't be a problem, but DH's family even if it was sunny not sure if they would come, so we will see.

I'm trying to finish all the planning now, since it's so close to all the holidays!

Odds are it will not snow.
DD was born January 11th 8 1/2 years ago.
It snowed the day we brought her home and it snowed pretty good during her party last year. But that is it in all the years.
I look at it this way, there are 9,000 post about spring/summer/fall parties being rained out. Our parties HAVE to be indoors and the chances of being snowed out are slim


BTW MY Bday is Jan 14th and in 37 years I had One party cancelled because of snow and that was in the 70's.

Last year when dd was born there was a storm and i was a nervous nelly driving home! uhh! Well, we are having our party by us in suffolk but family lives in nassau.

When I was pregnant, I always feared that I would go into labor in the middle of a blizzard. Thank god that wasn't the case and it didn't snow until I think the day after we came home with DD. We're having her birthday party at the restaurant where we had my baby shower. I'm just going to cross my fingers and hope for the best. Unfortunately, we have no control over Mother Nature.

I should know this very well because I'm a February baby and I was born in between 2 snowstorms. It usually always snows around my birthday.

#1's birthday is Feb 6th, his first birthday party was Feb 7th this year. I lucked out with the weather but yeah, it's definitely scary. Good luck!

DD is 12/20 and it was the first snow storm of the season, I'm sooo nervous that it'll be the first snow for her 1st bday

DD was born 1/6. The weather wasn't a factor on her 1st birthday, but it was on her second. We had planned a family/friend gtg to Disney on Ice. It snowed and my family didn't make it. We were very disappointed, but were able to have a good party regardless.

As a January baby myself, many a party was affected by the weather. But I learned that you can't let it prevent you from celebrating. Plan and hope for the best.

I am in the same boat. We are planning a party for Jan. 2nd.
But I can say this - my b-day is January 5th and I never had a bday party that was snowed out. So the chances are small there will be a blizzard the day of your party!
