Spinoff to 1st Time Moms that Delivered...
Is it genetic if you will deliver early/late/on time??? My mom was late with her first two babies-- does that mean the chances are I will be late too????

I don't want to say things can be totally genetic...but there are characteristics that may surprise you if you dig for info. from your family.
My mother had me the day they would've induced [after over 30 hours of labor] and my sister was induced [and still took about 18 hours to arrive!]. I thought for sure my first would be late and ENORMOUS as I was 8.5 pounds. 
My first arrived 8 days early and just under 6 pounds after 4 hours of labor. Later, my grandmother came to visit and she felt like sharing finally....not only did she start her period later in her teens [as did i], she had ALL of her children [4] EARLY and the longest labor was 8 hours and it wasn't even the first baby that took that long. She also didn't have "large" babies. Based on this, my dr. is seriously considering an induction at the first sign of being ready so i don't have the baby in the kitchen floor!
So to answer your question...there are some similarities you should look for and be aware of "just in case." Had I known this about my grandmother, I might have reacted differently when I went into labor the first time!

Not true for me.. I had DD 3 days early than EDD
With my mom-I was 3 days late and my bro was 2 weeks late.

Thanks for the info ladies!!!! I was hoping I would find out it wasn't b/c if I'm 2 weeks late, I think I'll lose my mind!!!!

I dont know if its "genetic" but my mom went pretty quick and always early and so do I...Longest labor on record for us is 4 hours..and the on average we deliver 4 wks early.

good news for you jen, but not for me!!  i was hoping it was genetic bc then i would almost certainly go early!!!!!!!
