Re: Spinoff of something on Pregnancy: Who bought your crib?

DS has 4 pieces of furniture in his room, all from Bellini, I was grateful that my mom and my MIL split the cost. It was so Chat Icon , so I save a lot.

Re: Spinoff of something on Pregnancy: Who bought your crib?

My in-laws offered to pay for the crib. We laid the money out up front. And they paid us over time. A long time.

We didn't expect them to pay so it was very generous. However, in hindsight, I would have said no.

Re: Spinoff of something on Pregnancy: Who bought your crib?

We were all set to buy it and then Tom's parents offered to buy it. So we said "sure!"
We went shopping for a crib, and I was looking at the less expensive ones so we could afford the matching pieces...and they offered to buy all of the nursery furniture for us, so we said "sure!" again.
We are very fortunate and I never once expected it. They were far far too generous!

We bought his crib and his furniture.

I do not believe that people should put it on the registry. However, if someone else wants to buy it then that's on them. But I would never expect that.

Raises hand!!! ITA!!!

I also don't understand (and feel free to enlighten me) why people say they add it to their registry to get a discount? Don't you just get the completion coupon at the end (which 18 months later I am still waiting forChat Icon Chat Icon ) and can't you use that on anything? Why would it HAVE to be on your registry?Chat Icon Chat Icon

BRU doesnt give a completion discount..but I remember with our wedding registry , you could only use it on Registry items.

I thought BRU was supposed to send out some type of coupon (maybe completion was the wrong word) close to your DD?Chat Icon

My husband and I bought everything. He even paid for my baby shower. We just don't have the type of family that gives things to us.

I didn't register at BBB (didn't have any of those on good old SI when I was pregnant!)

But I think they are always talking about that coupon on pregnancy b/c I always post that I never got it!Chat Icon

My ILs bought the cribs both times. We were very surprised and appreciative.

My mom is on a very tight budget and insisted on getting gliders for each room, which was also very appreciated.

Re: Spinoff of something on Pregnancy: Who bought your crib?

We got a 10% off coupon from BRU in November 2007 for any remaining registry items.

We never used it, but I can see why some would add items to the registry after the shower so they could use it for those items.

They offered 10% off after DS was born to buy the rest of the items still left on the registry. We had about 4 months to do after he was born.

My dad and stepmom gave us money for a crib...we wound up kicking in more $$. It was their "gift" and it was not expected nor was it registered for.

We bought the crib and all of the furniture for his room. My grandma gave me money for one piece after the fact, but we just put the $$ into Landon's bank account.
