Re: Spin-off Names: What were your back-up names? Veto'ed names?

Well, for a girl, the only name we both wanted was Ava, so there were no back-up names, but for a boy, it was going to be Trent.
We honestly had no other boy names. I'm a teacher, and I could not come up with a name that I liked that I didn't associate with a child I already knew. It was so annoying. I have no idea what we're going to do when we have another baby!

I loved the name Daisy-- from The Great Gatsby. Dh hated it. Lucky for him, my cousin named his daughter Daisy before we started TTC.

I love the name Dylan, but DH also vetoed any 90210 names.

He also vetoed Eva, which I love, love, love and Julia, which I wrote about last night.

Too funny, my number 1 was Dylan but DH felt the same way about 90210 and we ended up having a girl, and we chose Julia hands down, that one was easy Chat Icon

That is very true I work in a h.s. and literally went through all the boys names in the building and the ones I liked, the kids were annoying Chat Icon

I have always wanted to name a girl Allegra but DH said too many people would think of the allergy meds. I also liked Gabriella but he said it sounded too Italian Chat Icon

For a boy, we never decided. I wanted Vincent and he said it was also too Italian Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon and I also liked Roman, but he thought everyone would think of Roman PolanskiChat Icon

For DS I LOVED Spencer, DH vetoed itChat Icon I also loved Seamus and he wouldn;t got for that either and I really liked it! He travels for work and I did threaten if he wasn't there for the birth I would use SeamusChat Icon

For DD there were a few names we both liked and just couldn't decide so we went with DH's #1 pick. I did like Meredith a lot and he vetoed that.

We had originally agreed on Sierra Belle for a Chat Icon and for long complicated reasons discarded it, and walked into the delivery room disagreeing about the spelling for Kyra (vs. Kiera) even though neither one of us really loved it for a Chat Icon , and in complete agreement on Charles Joseph for a Chat Icon.

Previous rejects were Emma Louise, Alexandra Rose, Christina Louise and John Joseph.

Re: Spin-off Names: What were your back-up names? Veto'ed names?

Hmmmmm......

My eldest sons names were Jonathen & Andrew. I had wanted to name them Hunter & Thayer but their father wanted "traditional" so Hunter and Thayer wound up being their middle names instead....

When my eldest daughter was born we werent sure if she was a girl or a boy although we were pretty sure a girl. Ariel Jae would have been Christopher William had she been a boy...

When I was pregnant with Jaedyn & Alexis I found out that they were girls but they would have been Jacob & Noah had they been boys...

We found out very early that Caden was going to be a boy...but we did have a girls name...Caden would have been Abigail Elyse...

DH picked out Caden I added James so in case we wanted to call him CJ...his middle name is Aron after DH's grandfather.

(Had I had naming rights to DS he would have been named Rush...I found out afterwards that it was DHs 2nd choice so had I been a touch more persistant I could have had it!!!!Chat Icon )

If my DD was a boy, she would have been Tyler James or Jackson (we didn't have a middle name, although DH thought Daniel would have been really funny) DH wanted the boy name to be a Jr, but I vetoed that.

Our other girl name was Emma. DH wanted Sarah, but I vetoed that too!Chat Icon

Re: Spin-off Names: What were your back-up names? Veto'ed names?

for a boy dh wanted harrison tyler - which i do like, but he would have been harrison tyler IV/V (long story on the numbers) and i'm not a big fan of jr. plus dh wanted him to go by tyler which i'm not a big fan of. i liked harrison 9which dh goes by) or harry (which dh didn't like). at that point henry came into the running, but then we found out she was a girl.

for a girl we always knew she'd be harley, but the middle name was up in the air. we debated quinn but decided that was a little too "batman-y" (though quinny has now become one of her nicknames) then i said i liked shea. dh looked through the baby name book for a while but then agreed to shea once he realized all the other names he liked were because they rhymed with shea. Re: Spin-off Names: What were your back-up names? Veto'ed names?

Grace was always Grace, no discussion. I had her name with my madien name as her middle name FOREVER after my Grandma. Luckily, it went with my married name. Of course is became really popular a few years ago which pizzed me off but we kept it anyhow.

Jack's name was REALLY hard. We didn't find out so we had a girl name we loved(Charlize- Charly for short) but no boy name we could agree on. For a while it was Alec, then my DH got stuck on Derek which I liked until I realized everyone would think we named him after Derek Jeter( my husband's a DIE HARD YANKEE FAN).

Jack was the only one we could agree on and plus, it honored my DH's uncle who raised him with him Mom after his Dad died. Again, super popular but I am glad we picked it. It really suits him and made DH's uncle so happy.

Re: Spin-off Names: What were your back-up names? Veto'ed names?

I wanted with all my heart and soul Ella...I made the mistake of telling family members, and they all had negative comments about it. I will never make that mistake again!! That made DH not like it.

We then have narrowed it down to
Kayla
Kaitlyn
Emma
Emily

The night I went into labor it was Isabella or Gabriella. We named her after she was born.
