fir those who put down less than 20%, did you take out a 2nd loan to put 20% down or are you paying PMI?

Yup Chat Icon Chat Icon
Actually how much more $$ we have to save before we can buy the kind of home we really want - without having a crazy mortgage payment every month.

I wanted to see if my " 5 year plan " goal was realistic or not.

It is.... as long as we stop eating, drinking, driving the car, or turning on any lights Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Sorry if this is to personal - maybe someone can make a poll

our house is costing 359k

we put down 10% for the contract. We are actually financing 103% and getting most of our downpayment back so we can do some renovations and have back up money since I am out of work for a few months.

Re: Sorry if this is to personal - maybe someone can make a poll

My buddy is closing this week

He's doing $430k, no DP, sellers concession for closing costs, (106% financing) and the seller is giving him 6,500 cash at closing to do some renovations.

Im jealous... we are walking away from our closing poor and he's walking away with extra $$.
Oh well, thats life!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Sorry if this is to personal - maybe someone can make a poll

Wanted to add that we have an FHA mortgage, one mortgage, 100% financing and the CC were paid by the bank. So 0%, no CC. We love our mortgage broker!! Chat Icon

And thank God everyday for our blessings...Chat Icon

ETA: Wanted to add that the CC were paid by the bank because a bank owned the house. However, had it been a regular "person" we would have had the seller pay CC. It's quite common here NOT to pay CC since the builder's or sellers usually pay it (it has to be in your contract).

Re: Sorry if this is to personal - maybe someone can make a poll

we are looking at houses in the $350-400 range and will probably put 10% down and pay closing costs out of pocket. (we are hoping to buy the beginning of 2007)

Our house was $382,000 and we put down 20%. We also had to keep $50K in cash to do renovations. That money ran out long ago and now we are taking out a Home Equity to do a $100K extension and exterior overhaul. We signed the contract on SaturdayChat Icon

Re: Sorry if this is to personal - maybe someone can make a poll

Our house was $412k. We put down $82,400 (20%) and paid closing costs up front. Happy to say we walked away from the closing with $$ in the bank Chat Icon (but we still feel broke - especially after having had over 6 figures in the bank Chat Icon)
