So sad - I think my milk is drying up.

I managed to work out the plugged duct yesterday but really seem to have stopped any real production (in both breasts). Chat Icon

And I realized I have next to nothing left frozen. I had to send two bottles to daycare today that were 1/2 formula so that if this really is the beginning of the end, I'll still have *some* frozen to mix.

I had never even thought about breastfeeding and now I'm so sad and slightly devastated Chat Icon

I've been taking fenugreek for about a week, eating two packets of oatmeal every morning, drinking 32oz of gatorade and tons of water all day and (until this weekends plug) was just kinda maintaining my dwindled supply.

Anyone with any other ideas I can try?

Also do you think the fact that I got my period for the first time PP on Thursday could be affecting things?

Thanks Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: So sad - I think my milk is drying up.

When I got my period I noticed a little bit of a drop but not much. My supply really took a dip once I went back to work. As much as I pumped and nursed I could not seem to get the supply back up. It's been getting worst and worst. I took more milk plus and that helped out for a few months but then it seemed to not do anything after a while. I am not sure why this is happening. Everyone's body is different. Maybe you can try the more miok plus see if it works for you.

AF killed my supply. It drops dramatically the week or two before and during AF. It goes back up once AF is gone. Starting solids also made my supply drop. My supply dips a bit when I'm sick too.

I've heard great things about More Milk Plus. Chat Icon

I got AF 5 months PP, and every month when I ovulate AND when I get AF, my milk dips. It's to the point where I know exactly when I'm ovulating because my milk supply tanks. Once AF ends, it goes back up.

Try More Milk Plus - the liquid. And drink the Mother's Milk Tea (at Whole Foods). They work wonders for me.

Me too!! I remember the first time it happened - I totally freaked out!! Then I realized if I took fenugreek the moment I noticed the dip I could maintain enough to feed DD (no extra) for a few days before and the week of AF.
