So now I have to see a Ped Neurologist

It seems that Carlo's head is asymetrical and he may need to wear a helmet.

He has been diagnosed with torticoliis and now this is happening. My little boy is so gorgeous and now I am freaking out!!!!

anyone deal with this before???

Re: So now I have to see a Ped Neurologist

Alexa had really bad torticolis and her head started to get deformed. It was so bad that it had pinched a nerve in her neck which didn't allow her to initially breastfeed and she had a hard time bottle feeding as well as a result. We did cranial sacral therapy for it for a few months and she is all better now. She didn't need a helmet.

Maybe get a second opinion and look into cranial sacral therapy. It was AMAZING!!

Don't worry too much just yet! I know easier than done. It could be just because of the torticolis.

Plenty of children wear the helmet and don't need it anymore after a while.

My DS had it, and around 4 months old they suggested helmet, but to try PT first.

DS was fine after about 4 months of PT- and we did some light exercises at home too. DS didn't mind the therapy- the PT was a young attractive woman and he loved herChat Icon

Re: So now I have to see a Ped Neurologist

I know exactly where you are coming from because the same thing happened to us and I FREAKED out too!

The same EXACT thing happened to my DS! At 4 months he was diagnosed with Torticollis and an asymmetrical head we went to PT 1-2 times a week for about 2 months, and followed up with exercises she taught us at home 3 times a day. (She was AMAZING)! The PT and the tricks she taught us, definitely helped his head out, but it was still asymmetrical.

Our ped finally sent us to a pediatric Neurologist at around 8 months thinking we would need the helmet (DS head was pretty flat in the back). When we got to the pediatric neurologist he said it was a mild asymmetry and that since DS was just starting to move around independently (crawling, sitting up on his and sleeping on his belly) that he was pretty sure it would self correct. Literally in 2 months of him moving about on his own I saw MAJOR improvements and we never needed to go the helmet route! Now at 15 months you can't even tell he had such a flat head!

You ladies have been great with your helpful advice and concern...I hope the PT works and we dont need a helmet---does daycare even accept children with such issues? The last day I have home is sept 18th ....oh well....my dad said he would help
