Semi-spinoff: What interest rate do you have on your mortgage and when did you get/lock that rate?
I think this might be helpful for people looking. I know I for one had ZERO idea about this stuff when I started.
I'll start:
DH and I have a rate of 5.875% and we locked it Feb 24, 2006 (no points).

My 5.375 (30yr fixed 0 points) was locked in sometime in early July of '05 (forget when exactly).
I timed the market perfectly.

When we purchased our coop in 2001 we had an interest rate of 7.125%. We refinanced in 2003 and now we are at 5.5%

We bought in 2000 and had an interest rate of 8.25% on a 30-year mortgage (but a much more reasonable buying price).
We refinanced in mid-2002 (after we got married, I don't exactly remember when) and we went to a 15-year mortgage and have a 5.25% rate! Best thing we ever did!

Thinking of locking today which would be at 6.5%. I am in Westchester if that matters.

We're currently locked as of 3/26/06 at 6.25% in GA. Closing is in about 3 weeks, so this will remain.

We locked for our re-fi at 5.5% in August 05. Also 30 year.
The condo we locked Feb 06 at 6.375% 10/1 interest only 5% down.

I'm sure all the "5" peple have excellent credit. DH and I are ecstatic that we're getting that rate with "OK" credit.

we have 5.875% and locked in in aug 05-30 yr fixed, no points.
our second mtg is 6% also locked in aug 05- 20 yr fixed, no points

On my condo I have 4% on a 5 yr ARM but on the house that we just bought we locked 5.875 in early February.....

We got 5% on a floating rate in February 05.
ETA: DH is a veteran so that was an extra discount
