savings account for kids...
DH and I just opened a savings account for our DD. We'll contribute to it ourselves and of course will deposit all monetary gifts she receives. I'm just curious when everyone plans on giving their DCs the money from their accounts...to buy a car? when they turn 18? when they go to college? Also, are you opening a separate savings account to save for college tuition?

We hope to be able to give it to them for a home - we would like to pay for college IF we can. If we can't, the money from the account will be used

We have hers set up so that it becomes "hers" at 21. Not sure what the intention is for the money right now. Maybe grad school or toward living expenses after college? She can decide.
