Salary Spinoff - POLL: How much more do you make than your first job?

I don't mean your first job at 16, I mean when you got your first real job, how much have you gone up (%-wise, not looking to pry into anyone's salary here).

If I did the math right just now, I've gone up 54.2% since I started here 4 years ago.

I still work for the same company I started with but I make about 40% more now 6&1/2 years later.

60% plus. But I am in a whole different line of work.

The job I have right now was my first "real" job, 15 years ago. I'm making a lot more naow than I did then

I'm also with the same company I started with. I'll be here 5 years in January and I've actually more than doubled my salary - 102% increase, to be exact.

But, it's not that exciting - I started VERY low.

Over almost 7 years at my last job - I increase by about 76%. But that is also cause I when I started I was making CRAP!

I jumed up $35K from one job to the next, after 4 years.

ETA then I get a $5k raise- so $40K total over 5 years.

Interesting question, I was just telling someone about this the other day.

Since I started working my first job I obtained on my own without any help (in 1998) I've doubled my salary. (Of course I started in entertainment and now work in finance, but still.)

I'm a job-hopper and I feel this is one of the benefits!

I am at 18K more now than my first job.....which sounds like a lot but trust me its not!

I went a few steps back I had a really good paying job in HR at a huge insurance company which I quit to go back to law school. So, now, as a first year associate at a small law firm, I'm making just about the same I was making when I left 4 years ago! BUT, I'm unbelievably happy where I am now, so it's all worth it to me

I have been here for over 6 years and I make 177% more than when I started.

a little more than double. And, that was only in 2000. not too bad!

I actually made twice as much as I do at my current school........HOWEVER, I was miserable. I'm talking curtains closed, panic attack-type miserable. I worked in a school for emotionally disturbed teenagers. I spent 9 months being attacked almost on a daily basis. Kids throwing desks at me, throwing themselves through sliding glass doors, etc. No amount of money is worth dealing with that. And the whole reason they paid so well is because there was NO OTHER reason to want to work there.

Is is

(current salary - first salary) / (new salary)

x 100

Is that the percentage increase? My brain is fried today and I'm second guessing myself ...

my first *real* job was when I was managing the bars & bartending. I make a TON less money than I did, but the hours are waaaay better. ooh, and I have benefits.

My salary has almost tripled since 1995. But my first job was in publishing - a low paying industry.
