**RON** Picture posting idea
I don't want to speak for everyone on the parenting board, but I'm sure they would agree with this.
We want to feel safe posting pictures of our kiddies. I know many feel uneasy because of internet preditors, weirdos, etc.. If you could disable the right click button on pictures, it would make us mommies feel a little bit more at ease.
For anyone who doesn't know...by disabling the right click button on pictures, it prevents anyone from saving your picture onto their computer.

There is still the screen print option though.
I would love to be able to share my album with my LIF "friends".

Not sure I would still post pics (see my response on the other thread) but I feel that this site should definitely not be as open to lurkers as it is.

I think it's a good idea Stef, but there are really a bunch of ways around it so it's not a cure-all, unfortunately.

This board should be made private like the relationship board, therefore if there are any issues the IP can be traced, ect

There isn't a way around that unfortunately.
Also, when someone posts a pic that is hosted on another site (like shutterfly), I believe they would have to post the HTML code with their pic Url that disables right clicking. I don't think it's something the site can implement for pics posted from outside sources.

a lot of the times when the right click is disabled, you have to upload the pictures onto the site's server.
Also, even though it's not a cure and there are still ways around it, it is definately a deterrant.

Ron blocking this board will not alleviate any safety issues. Someone could still just sign up for LIF and then be able to view the site anyway and still lurk. Ron can't be the internet police, there's a fine line between protecting yourself and ron's socia/ethical responsibilty.
It's the internet. LIF is not a safe haven, even though it feels like that most of the time. Just be careful and don't post anything here you wouldn't post on a myspace page.

All those measures just make it more difficult for legitimate people. People who want to take a photo can always find a way. There's no way you can stop them. Unfortunately, that's just the way it is. There are tools to grab video off the web that is "protected" from copying. Images are very easy to get. There are cameras everywhere. If you leave the house, people have pictures of you, your kids, your car, they know where you shop, where you drop your kids off, etc. They have your license plate #, and from there can find out anything and everything about you.
However, there is so much effort involved in doing that that it is extremely unlikely that someone would spend that kind of time doing it......

only problem is if you have a mac like me you drag the picture to the desktop and it saves it. so need to disable this also.
