Repost from Pregnancy- Did your MIL help out financially with your baby shower?
I am wondering how this goes.... I know traditionally the Mother of the Bride pays for the bridal shower... just wondering how the baby shower works... Any imput would be great!!

My MIL paid for the whole thing! This was my moms 8th grandchild and my MIL's first and she really wanted to throw the party...she asked my mom if it was OK and my mom was fine with it

MIL did not pay. She lives on her own and has bills and rent to pay. Her salary is not that great. She felt bad that she couldn't chip in so my parents paid for my bridal and baby shower. Then again both showers were mostly my family. 90% is mine and 10% is DH's family so my parents didn't mind.
But MIL did get us nice gifts for the bridal and baby shower.

yes. she and my mom paid for the shower. it was in a home and they paid for the catered food. it was lovely & I was very grateful.

Mine didn't for my shower in NY. But after I had the baby, she hosted a dinner for family and friends at her house.

My MIL called up my sister and asked if she (MIL) can pay for it all...she felt bad that my sister paid for my Bridal shower so she wanted to trow me my baby shower

Since my mom is ill and in a nursing home type facility my MIL and SIL paid for most of it. My Mom contributed her third after the shower because she just got out of the hospital 3 days before my shower.

My MIL threw my shower with my sisters, but she would not let them help pay! So she paid for the whole thing, and it was beautiful! My sister made all the prizes and stuff though and bought all of that stuff. I guess it's not the same anymore, everyone throws showers! I know we threw my sisters theirs (meaning my sisters threw it for whichever sister was pregnant).

My MIL just recently send a card and a gift for my DD and she is 9mths!!! ( and this was for her birth!!) so you can imagine how much I like her

My MILhad the shower for me and paid for a lot, however my sister helped with the decorating and details. My Mom paid for the cake and did what she could, my Step Mother paid/made the favors. Everyone pitched in. It was so nice. I want to do it all over again
