ok, maybe its me but do not be that person. Everyone is adjusting to this new normal and for most of these workers, they've never had to wear a mask all day every day. If you don't like it say something to a manager, don't shop there but don't report them.

I agree. Just don’t go back if you’re uncomfortable. Every customer that goes in can see what’s going on and make a decision for themselves.

I wouldn’t destroy someone’s livelihood.

This. Plus not everyone falls under cuomo’s EO. Businesses cannot force everyone that enters their store to wear a mask, if they try to impose this to the wrong person that knows their rights and uses the ADA, that business can get a a big lawsuit. It’s happening already. If u’re not happy with the way they’re handling things, u have a choice and not go there.

Exactly, I just wouldn’t eat their like any other time if I saw a health violation or had a hair in my food. People have a lot of time on their hands.

Any other time the person could’ve had the flu or common cold, did we call a number to report the businesses then? No!!

If I saw someone 6 months ago touch their nose and then my bagel I'd be equally pissed. It's disgusting.

Also, it was a simple flucking question. Is there a way to report STATE HEALTH CODE VIOLATIONS.

You really can’t use Google and find this phone number??

Do both. The Board of Health won't shut a place down based on hearsay. They will investigate. If, by the time they get it together to investigate, the store is not in compliance, it should be shut down. Owners are responsible for what goes on at their places of businesses, just as state governments and police chiefs have accountability for their cops. We place lots of public trust in both, especially now. Being open is a huge responsibility now...the buck stops with the owner for not turning the place into a death vector.

You should open up a small business just so you can relate to what it is like to own and operate one. I did it. Biggest mistake of my life, mostly because I had to deal with customers who I am pretty sure are very much like yourself.

OP. Sorry you're being attacked. You provoked noone, and yet managed to trigger people with nothing more than trying to be responsible and compassionate.

Says nothing about you and everything about them. Personal attacks in the context of intelligent discussion aimed at people the speaker knows nothing about always do.

I'm disgusted by how lightly you are taking this!!!!!

OP, call 911 immediately and report the multiple counts of attempted murder. That's the only way we will ever stop this death vector. The owner clearly has absolutely no regard for human life whatsoever.

I'm confused. Is the complaint about the masks or about the boogers? A food worker spreading boogers on food has always been a health code violation and you'd contact the health department. I'm not sure if there's a new separate contact just for masks? Is the state even enforcing the mask rule?

Either way, it's probably faster just to speak directly to the owner as a first step and hope they rectify.

It seems that she started asking for a number to report the business for allowing their workers and customers to no wear masks, and then she used the booger part as an example...

Posted by LuckyStar

They may be uncomfortable wearing masks but if they're infected, pick their nose and butter someone's bagel, the person eating the bagel will be a lot more uncomfortable than someone who has to wear a mask.

Last I checked it wasn’t a law for businesses to force all customers to wear masks, they could end up paying fines though. Cuomo loves changing things last minute so this might have changed.

And all I AM saying is six months ago I would act the same as I would now. Throw out my bagel and not go back. I would NOT CALL the health department to get the store closed down or have them pay fines.

You specifically asked for a number to get them in trouble about the masks. So stop it. Especially now when almost everyone is struggling because of all this. Maybe have a little compassion and not think everyone is out to spread Covid.

I’m sorry but the Mask crusader mentality and the busy body/ holier than thou, I’m saving the world attitude is annoying.

I'm not trying to save the world. I just wanted my bagel without boogers.

This will live on forever. It's funny! But, it's not Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Almost everyone on this thread just suggested talking to the manager first. Those posts are not attacking her. They are simply saying how they think she should handle the situation.

Compassion works both ways. Have some compassion for the business owner who is probably struggling to keep his business afloat right now. You really need to take a look in the mirror if you think you have shown compassion in any of your posts recently. You might possibly be one of the most narrow minded people on here.

BTW if anyone is provoking people, it is YOU.

Trying to get a number to report a business owner about masks is not showing compassion. They are probably already struggling as is, lets kick them while they are down and add fines to the list.

If anything people who don't care about other peoples livelihoods, or can't see there are other real issues going on than masks and #'s shows a lack of compassion and sense of reality.

Re: Reporting businesses?

To the OP, I would call and speak to manger / owner first. Give them the opportunity to correct it. If not, I would contact 311 and ask who you need to report to.

I am a Small Business Owner (not food) and we are very aware of our employees and what they are doing - we have cameras everywhere. If we see someone standing close to another employee without a mask covering, they get told they must raise their mask up to cover nose and mouth while close to someone else. They must also wear a mask when drying a dog. They can talk and spit or sneeze mucus all over a clean dog and you just never know. I repeat myself daily, multiple times a day. It is extremely frustrating to tell people they must wash their hands after they blow their nose, etc but it is my responsibility to keep my employees and customers as safe as I can.

So yes. I would first talk to owner/manager and if no change, get official involved. They should be taking the safety of their community very seriously and it sounds like they aren’t.

Re: Reporting businesses?

Small business owners are definitely hurting right now, so before writing a negative online review or "reporting" them, ask to speak to the owner. I bet it will go a long way and be appreciated. Kindness is all but forgotten in this world.
