As someone who's family was on the receiving end of horrible comments online when my stepdaughters' house burnt down, I realized that there is no end to asssholes with Internet balls. This broke my heart. While the situations are different, I know how this can slice you apart. It even went so far as someone in LIF fming me taunting me about it. People behind a computer screen can be awful nasty fukks. My heart breaks for Erin and her family, but it seems she is trying to find her peace with all of this!

I'd google it, but I don't know what's legit and what's not and I know you girls will point me in the right direction.

I don't know much about this story or the family aside from what I read. It is heartbreaking what they are going through.
Just to clarify how the media works from personal experience. Im 99% sure the magazine never needed consent to run this story. Once a story hits the news it is considered public information and unfortunately any media source, reputable or not can use the story and all associated photos, videos, quotes etc. to their benefit. Also, if they signed a release when doing any interview, that release clearly states that the parent company can continue to use all information (again story, photos, videos etc) and distribute it to any affiliate companies as they wish. It looks like Perez Hilton was just repeating what the people magazine article said. Unfortunately, I don't think he can change anything about the "facts" from that article. could his intro have been different? Yes. But it's Perez Hilton, not the NY Times.
IMO, I don't think the article was sensationalized. The comments from idiots were. But unfortunately that's the risk one takes when speaking publically about anything. It's a live and learn experience, I just hope the family continues on whatever path they believe is right for their family and ignore all of the nonsense.
