water/sand table?

I'm thinking about getting a sand & water table for my ds. He'll be 1 on Friday.

I'm wondering if a 1 year old will try to eat the sand...? (my ds still puts everything in his mouth.)

would i be better off just getting a water table? or is it redundant to get a water table and a baby pool?

any recs?

tia!

Little Tikes makes a water table only for $30. I saw it in Target today. I was thinking of getting that for my kids instead because I hate sand - it skeeves me and I hate having it all over.

I don't think it is redundant to get both the water table and a pool. Totally different uses. If you baby loves to stand - they'll probably love the water table.

I had a little tikes water and sand table and hated it. Had lots of issues and Little Tikes refund me (as did my SIL) for the price and they said they have had tons of complaints on the product as did my local toy store. It fills with water when covered - both the sand and inside the cover (making cover very heavy). Also the two sides don't stay together without extreme force to put them together. I could never do it and DH had a hard time too.

I wound up just keeping a piece of it to use as a water table and buying a stand up sand only play table and have been much happier. Saw no reason to use the sand and water together.

I have this sand table

hmm...now you have me thinking will my 1 year old this summer eat the sand....I hope not. He is 9 mos now and I haven't tried him with it yet. My older son was about 14-15 mos when the weather worked for him to use his sand table.

Well Noah is almost 11 months and we have been to the beach a few times and he has never tried to eat the sand...If that helps.

All I can tell you is that when I began taking my DD to the beach last year she did eat the sand. Needless to say I didn't take her to the beach a lot last summer.

She was just in a sadbox 2 weeks ago and didn't try it so I guess she got over it Chat Icon

I would probably go for the water table so that way you dont have to worry about DC with the sand Chat Icon
