I was told they don't have to, but I agree I don't get it either
I have mine set for tmrw, but DH will be here so they better come in

Yes, he came in and looked in every room. He even requested a survey of the house (which we had).

Drive-bys used to be more common but it seems more lenders want full appraisals these days.

If its a low loan to value, drive bys are more popular, as the appraisal doesn't need to be so accurate. The bank just wants to know the loan is reasonable, and drive-bys often give enough info to establish that.

IF you had a drive-by and your appraisal came in too low for the loan AND you have an updated above average interior that may improve your value, I'd request a full appraisal from your lender.
