Question about steroid shots during pregnancy???
My friend was 33 weeks preg. and miscarried last week. We use the same doctor. She wasn't feeling well, had slight contractions and fever. The doctor recommended she go to L&D to have steroid shots and be monitored. They administered her 2 steroid shots with in 12 hours. I had steroid shots while preg. and I thought they needed to be 24hrs. apart. She was released from the hospital and with in 24hrs. she no longer felt the baby moving. She called the doctor and he said to go back to the hospital and that's when they determined there was no longer a heartbeat. I am so sad for my friend. Especially since I recommended my doctor for her to use. Does this sound right about the steroid shots being only 12hrs apart????? Any advice or info please!!!! TIA

First of all   for your friend...
Second, Im pretty sure the shots are typically done 24 hours but it sounds like they thought she might be having the baby soon and wanted to make sure the shots had as much time to work as possible.

Could the doses have been different? Meaning same amt as you but just in 2 doses vs 1?

i had 2 steriod shots when i was 34 weeks preggo b/c i went into labor... mine were 24 hours apart & i thought they needed to be 24 hours apart
i know other people who had gotten the first shot, but did not make it the 24 hours & had the baby... they were not given the second one 12 hours later

I had 2 shots 24 hours apart at 30 weeks. so sad for your friend

I had 2 steroid shots about 22 hours apart at 31 weeks 5 (& 6) days. I was worried that they were giving me the second shot before the exact 24 hours but my OB said since the baby was going to have to come out asap, it would be fine. But I don't know about 12 hours.
So sorry for your friend!!!!
