Question about showing your home *updated with another question**

so we finally have a showing tomorrow at 9:30 am. I actually invited my DD's friend over to play since it's been really slow - figures right?

Is it really bad/annoying if we are home, but outside playing with the kids?

UPDATE: So I pushed my daughters playdate an hour. I pack up the kids and we leave the house at 9am . We came back at 10:30 and broker & potential buyers never came.

So my company shows up, we all get in the pool and 2 hours later (yes 2 hours) the broker comes in the back yard and apologizes for running a little late (is 2 hours a little late?) and asks if they can see the house. Of course I accomodated the best I could - I told them to take their time, but we would be staying in the pool. They did come over and ask a few questions. Turns out they were going to make an offer, until they saw another house today that they liked betterChat Icon

Anyway - shouldn't the broker have called and said she was running late??

I think it's fine if you are outside playing.

I went to one house a few weeks ago and the woman and her 2 small kids followed us (and our agent) into every room while we looked, very awkward & we couldn't wait to leave, so just don't do that! Chat Icon

oh goodness no! I really don't like to be home when people view the house, because I know I don't like it when I'm looking at houses. I just don't know where to take 4 kids for a 1/2 hour. Maybe we'll go for a walk around the block or something. I don't want them to feel rushed, but I dont' want to reschedule the playdate for a 15 minute showing.

I would take the kids out to a park or something. Let the buyers relax as they look at the home. Makes it easier for them to picture themselves living in the home if you're not there. Good luck!

we had a showing when we were setting up for my niece's christening party. There were 8 of us setting up tents and etc. all outside. The people knew we would be doing that before hand.

weekends are fair game for people to be home. as a previous buyer, I totally understood that.

But, you should stay outside, until they leave.

Re: Question about showing your home

i always felt just a little uncomfortable when the homeowners were home when we were looking. if you can leave for a little while, that might be better. if not, its not the worst in the world..

Re: Question about showing your home

I would not be in the house.

I was in the house when I had a family looking at my former house. I noticed they were taking quite a bit of time looking around and I sensed they were interested.

I grabbed my things and told my Realtor that I am leaving to run some errands and they can take their time. I am glad I did because they ended up buying my house.

Re: Question about showing your home

I liked when homeowners were home, I liked asking them questions about the neighborhood etc.

Communication is so important and makes everything go smoother.

The problem is who broke the communication line.

Did the agent just not call your listing agents office.?

Did the agent call the office but the office did not follow up?

When you came home and no agent came did you call the office and ask if they are running late?

Some agents are better than others with time management.

Just let your agent know what happened and see if it can be corrected, for the next showing.
