Question about cervical length

So, I've been having some mild cramping and tightness in my lower abdomen (uterus area). I mentioned it to my OB today and he measured my cervical length. It was 3.5, and he said anything over 3 is "good" and I shouldn't worry. However, when I had my sono at Madonna a month ago, the length was well over 4. Should I be concerned that is dropped quite a bit, even though it is still in the safe range??

BTW, I am 17 weeks.

Re: Question about cervical length

Not at all. Just went through this with my DR since I had a measurement of 2.9. Basically, anything above 3 is fine. And it's going to fluctuate during your pregnancy, so as long as all the measurements are above 3 everything should be fine.

Re: Question about cervical length

Are you having a level II at 20 weeks? At my level II, my cervix was a tiny bit short (I think 2.8) I had to go back in two weeks and it was considerably shorter which set off red flags for my dr. He put me on progesterone (which I still take) and weekly cervical checks/sonos. If it gets too short your dr. will either put you on bedrest or give you the progesterone or both. Just keep an eye on it! (Well, not you, but you know what I mean...)

Yep, having a level two in about three weeks. They will definitely check it then, and I guess watch to see if it shortens. THANKS!
