Q for those who are RH negative... about the rhogam injection... where exactly DO they do it?
Hi-
I just dropped my rx for rhogam (super expensive!) and I heard recently that the dr will give me the injection in the fleshy part of the behind. 
Is this true?

yes, I got it in the lower hip, butt area. I liked that I couldnt see it, I hate needles.

When I had my m/c they gave it to me in my butt. When I bled a little early on in this pregnancy, the hospital administered it in my arm.
I read the directions in the box after my m/c and read they should not give it to you in your arse.

usually at 28 weeks if you are RH negative......I had one earlier as well when I had my amnio

I had it several times and it varied between my butt and my arm. FYI, those that have had to pay out of pocket for the drug (if your doc doesn't have it in the office), make sure you file for reimbursement through your medical plan, not your RX plan. I had Oxford and that's what I had to do.

My dr gave me a choice to have it in my upper arm or my butt. I chose the arm.

Mine were all in the arm. I requested this. They told me either I could have it in the arm or the tush. I am not a fan of having shots in my butt, so I told them to do it in my arm.

With my m/c they gave it to me in my arm

At 28 weeks and after birth.. or if you have a m/c or significant bleeding where they think your blood may have mixed with the baby's.. Like from trauma... But only if your blood type is negative and your Dh's is posivtive.

How much was this shot? I have to go in about 3 weeks for it and I have to get it through my pharmacy (CVS) and then bring it to my doctor's office.

Thank you all for your help! I guess I'll see what my Dr does...
In response to the above, I also had to buy it and am bringing it to my Dr at my next appt. It cost me $169 at Rite Aid.

I had it in my arm at about 28 weeks, and then again after I gave birth, adn that one was in my butt....they say they have to do that one there since it is a bigger dose....it is a big needle but didn't really hurt me that much.

Follow up Q:
Do you have to keep the rx in the fridge?
Neither my dr or the pharmacist advised me to do so, but I was reading the packaging after I picked it up today, and it says keep in refrigerator, do not freeze.
