Pediatric Dentist
I brought Jeremy to ped yesterday for a check up. He has stains on his upper teeth and what looks to be an indent in one tooth. I called the ped dentist that he said was fabulous today and the receptionist told me since they are a private practice they don't accept any insurance. Is this common practice? I want to take him to who my ped said was the best in the area but since he has a problem with his teeth already I dont want it costing us an arm and a leg.

I would call the dentist back and get another referal. Or will your insurance pay you back some of the cost of the care?

While we are not there yet, I have heard that many Pediatric Dentists do not take dental insurance.
(in fact alot of regular dentists are bowing out of ins. programs too)
You may however be able to submit it to your carrier and they might reimburse you something.
(wow just checked my participating denists list for ped dentists and in the entite tri-state area there is 1 in NJ and 1 on Staten Island - but I am pretty sure the union will pay a percentage for where ever we go)

Im not sure if MDNY will cover any of the expense... Of course they are a 9-5 answer kinda place so I cant find out until tomorrow

i don't know where you live but my peds dentist is great. he is in port jefferson area. Dr. Gold's office. we see dr. coniglia and they do take insurance!

good to know...i've been looking for a ped. dentist in this area...
which would you recommend. gold or coniglio?

we've only seen Dr. coniglia but i hear that gold is even better! there are others in the practice too. it's just a great, kid friendly office. they let them play gameboy while they are working on their teeth and they approach them in a very friendly non scary Dr. way! let me know what you think if you end up using them!
