Paying a Babysitter/ Nanny vs Daycare

Hey ladies,

How much would you say these run (Day/ Week or Month)?

Also, my friend has offered to sit 2-3 work days a week. What is a fair rate per day?

TIA!

I pay $7/hour for a babysitter, at her house. I think you should be able to pay your friend less than the going rate since you are friends. Maybe $5 or $6 per hour?

We will be paying ours 100 a day for two kids. She got 65 a day for DD#1. I think we may be overpaying her though. Chat Icon

I pay $15 per hour for a 23-year old who is awesome. Honestly I usually pay her more because I round up. It is for one 20-month old though she has been watching her since she was 8 weeks old.

Re: Paying a Babysitter/ Nanny vs Daycare

I babysit for a friend's daughter from 6:20am-5pm, Monday - Friday. She pays me $50/day. To be honest if she were not a friend, because of the early mornings, I would probably ask for $60/day. She also pays me less ($40) on days that her DD has preschool since I don't have her for 2 hours on those days.

I have worked it out and I make just over $4/hr.

I pay $8 per hour for a GREAT lady who watches my 3 1/2 month old in her home. She usually watches 3 other children at the same time.

Thank you so much ladies for your help! I guess maybe its not as scary as I thought. My cousin says she makes $105/day as a nanny and I was freaking out a bit! Chat Icon

I watched two little boys in my house for a while, both were here from 7:30-3:30. The one boy who was here M-W-F, his mom paid me $65/day and didn't pay me when he didn't come. The other little boy was here Mon-Thurs and she paid me $90/day and paid me whenever he stayed home.

Sam I pay $250 a week in daycare. But I did get a bit of a discount because I work for the county.

Re: Paying a Babysitter/ Nanny vs Daycare

I have been paying a friend $11/hour and she watches DD for 11 hours some days 2-3 days a week in her home. DH and I have crazy noon traditional hours so although this has been expensive its been totally worth it for us.
