Parking by American Girl Store in NYC and another question
I am going either tomorrow right after work (I work very close but not in Manhattan and would be there by like 2:40) or Saturday morning. I'm not bringing my girls just running in for the dolls.
Do you think it would be better Friday at like 2:40 or Saturday as soon as they open.
Also....where is the best place to park??
Thanks...I didn't order their dolls yet and I rush charges are more than what I would pay to park.

Is it on 46th and 5th Ave?
There are lots of parking garages in midtown; not sure which is the closest. I don't think there's any meter or street parking during the day in that area (I'm not 100% sure though), so I think you'd have to pay for a lot.
If you go at 2:40, you're going to pay a lot more than if you got in by 9am and got the 12 hours special that most garages have. In the afternoon, their rates are higher. If you think you can be in and out in an hour or two, you'll probably pay about $30 unless you find a good place.

OK I just checked online and there is no street parking anywhere in that area for Friday at 2:40pm.
If you have an SUV, they charge a surcharge (usually about $15 extra).
The closest parking lot is on 46th between 5th and 6th ave (Central Parking). Cost for an hour at that time is $28 plus taxes etc. Same for Saturday morning.

I work right by there and it is a complete zoo this time of year. I think Friday would be worse though.

I think Friday is better than Saturday. Especially since kids are in school on Friday. Saturday is always packed with the tea parties, brunch, etc.

I used to work a block away from there. There is no street parking. The parking lots will be expensive and very crowded.
If I were you, I'd park in an easy place and cab it.

The rates are better on Saturday morning.

You will be able to print out a coupon that will give you lower rates than what they normally charge in a garage. I used it twice recently & paid $15 for parking in prime areas.

We went last Sunday and there was plenty of street parking...go first thing in the morning you might have to walk a block or two but we always go in on Sundays...Good Luck
