talk to me about American Girl Dolls and the NYC store
I am completely new to the phenomenon- we don't have one yet but Grandparents want to get one for xmas should I suggest that they make a day of it and go to the store?

I don't have any experience per say... But I will tell you that every time I've walked past that store around the holidays the line is around the block just to get in!!!

I think it's much more fun for the girls to go to the actual store and pick out their dolls. They have the cafe with breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner. There is also a portrait studio to get a picture with their doll. We have done the tea and the lunch. It's so cute, the dolls sit in their little doll high chairs and eat with the girls.
The store is amazing, and a little girl's dream!

What do u think is a good age for them to really enjoy it. DD is turning 3 and I feel like over the summer at 3.5 shell be ok, but maybe too young still? No clue?

We have been going since 2 and she has always had a blast. There is an entire Bitty Baby, Bitty Twins area upstairs that she will enjoy.

Omg now I'm dying to go! I used to work right by it and holiday time it was insane! DDs birthday is right around the holidays and would love to take her but don't want to deal with the mobs

The store is definitely cool, but there is no way I would go around the holidays. Any other time of year it's usually not too bad in there.
