Parents of kids with air born allergies..

My DD 13 months is effected when the heat is turned on. she actaully doesnt sleeps well when its on. i feel so bad bc she starts to cry when the heat goes on. when i shut it off shes fine. (we have forced hot air).im getting the vent covers for her room and for the heating system... what other things can i do? i saw theres an air purifier but very $$ but i would get it if it we need to..

Is it that the air is too dry? Maybe you can put a humidifier in her room.

no we did that and it made it worse...humdiifers are really bad for allergies...

DS was the same way, and we ran a humidifier in his room almost every night last year--BIG difference. I'm not sure where you have the idea that they are bad for allergies, I've never heard this.

The thing with humidifiers that is a pain though is cleaning them. If they aren't cleaned properly, they can make the air quality even worse.

Really? Interesting. Humidifiers have always made things for better for us. We did put the vent cover on and we thought all was good, until we found out it somehow blew right on him. (Couldn't figure that out because the cover was blowing in the opposite direction. But we stood in there one night and turned the heat on and WAM!!!!) So check on the direction of it with the heat on.

i wish the humidifier made it better...the thing is and my allergist said is that it blowa around the dust mites plus it easily makes mold if not cleaned right....she slept worse with it...so frustrating
