Rylan has done this to me numerous times. That's why I bought a mirror so I could see him. It's heartbreaking!!

Re: OMG the stress of driving....

DD did that a lot in the beginning...she's getting a little better now that we drive an hour each way in the morning and night. But there are still days when she screams the entire way. Last week she got so upset she started to gag. I can stop the car and give her a bottle, but as soon as I take it out she starts wailing again. It is getting better though.

There's nothing you can do...just get to the next destination asap...lol. The mirror just made me feel better because I could see what was going on. Like if he threw up I would pull over to clean him up.

That is why I get so freaked about going places becasue if he starts to scream in the car seat..I know its so bad for me to be like that but the screaming just stresses me out sooo bad! I kind of time my life around when he eats so then I know he will at least maybe sleep in the car seat..he takes sometime to fall asleep in the car seatChat Icon Chat Icon

This is SO true. DD used to SCREAM the SECOND we'd put her in the carseat. She wouldn't stop. I don't think I went anywhere EVER Chat Icon I just couldn't handle it.

Then one day, it literally was like magic...she stopped.

Hang in there...it gets better.

I recommend toys, give her lots of teethers in the seat, a mirror...anything to keep her occupied

Re: OMG the stress of driving....

Jack did this ALL THE TIME. I would have a nervous breakdown. Screaming to the point of not being able to cathc his breath.

I know what I did - and it worked - but it succckeeed - I switched him into the Marathon at 2 months. Turns out he was really uncomfortable in the infant carseat (but he was also REALLY big)

DD did this so much in the beginning too. Believe it or not, putting her carseat by the passenger window helped alot and I realized she liked the Billy Joel CD I was listening to and still does. GL, I hope it improves. Chat Icon

My DD cries ALL the time in the car. Hates it! No matter what we do. Just hates it. While other babies go to sleep in the car, she cries in the car until I take her out of the carseat.

I've resigned to not driving much with her. I couldn't handle her being drenched in tears everytime I went to pick her up. Now, when we HAVE to go somewhere (and I mean absolutely have to) she still cries unfortunately. She is 6mnths old now.

How about taking out the car seat when you are home and letting dc sit in it for a few minutes a day? This may help them get used to being in it.

You went to Astoria? Well, if you ever need a bathroom break, you can use mine. I live in Bayside.

Re: OMG the stress of driving....

Vincent has done this so many times - one time from New Jersey! It is torture. If you can find a safe place to pull over to comfort her, then do it. If not, then keep driving, , but know they are safe in their seat and cannot hurt themselves.

Maybe next time give her a bottle, change her into PJ's before getting into the car. I find if I 'ready' him for bed, he settles into his carseat a little better.

Hang in there! Chat Icon

I know it's heartbreaking while it's happening... but it happens..

try not to let it upset you so much...

just give her lots and lots of hugs and love when you DO get home
(next time of course)

I made it a point to put on her PJ's and I fed and burped her before we left..... She is just a diva and didn't want to be back there alone.... Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Re: OMG the stress of driving....

DS screamed for the first 4 months in the car. I hated going anywhere but I did. As long as he was crying I knew he was ok. I did pull over a few times and once was so bad that he started vomitting but I was stuck in traffic on the LIE trying to get into the city so it was hard to just get off the exit. It eventually got better when he could see out the window. Then once we tuned him around he was fine.
