OMG!!!! He ate paint! What do I do?!?!?

He enjoys chewing on anything near his height on our laps. He has the evenflo 3 in 1 exersaucer and he really enjoys playing with the top part of it while on our laps. It keeps him quiet, so we just hold him and he goes to town.

Well, today I looked at him and saw yellow paint all over his lips and in his mouth. Now with his two teeth, he actually scraped the paint off!!!!!!!!!!!

If it's on a kids thing, it's okay right? It's not a normal spot that they'd play with though. I'm confused!!!!!!!! Please help me!

This pic kinda shows it. There are many layers of yello paint. I see many spots he got through a few layers, but you can see a few spots he got through them all.

Take a few deep breaths and call Poison Control. It doesn't look like there was alot to swallow but call them.

Re: OMG!!!! He ate paint! What do I do?!?!?

make the call as the ladies indicated but try and calm down a little. I can see how this is very scary. But, I have to imagine they would never use harmful or toxic paint on a baby toy because most reasonable people would assume at some point it will get in their mouths. But maybe i'm being too optimistic.

just to clarify, when I referred to "most reasonable people" I meant the manufacturer. I wasn't insinuating at all that you were unreasonable. I probably would have freaked as well. I'm completely unreasonable! Hope he's ok!

Re: OMG!!!! He ate paint! What do I do?!?!?

Poison control asked if it was metal or plastic and other questions. They said that kid's toys aren't made anymore with toxic paints, blah blah blah. They also said to get as much out of his mouth as possible, which I already did.

Then they took down my number and last name. Maybe if you call too much they have somebody come out to check that you are a fit parent. Chat Icon

Re: OMG!!!! He ate paint! What do I do?!?!?

I can totally see this happening with DS - the other day I saw a flake of paint on his lip from his ring-a- links - toys are made so cheaply these days it makes me soooo mad - of course every kid is going to chew on these toys! they should make it safe for this! Chat Icon

Depending on what it is they may call you and check how the child is doing. I once had to watch my daughter for a few hours to make sure and they called me back to see if she was still fine. It was actually really nice. They didn't take my last name though.

I'm glad things turned out okay. That must have been so scary.
