I think Radio Shack takes them and donates them to battered women
ETA - I also saw a sign up at Stop n Shop a few months ago - not sure if they still take them

Just check out how you have to delete any saved personal information and your phone book, especially if your phone is a combo with a PDA...

we take them where I work and give them to our clients for 911 use only. FM if you'd like the info.
