Ok...please explain this to me like I'm a 5 year old...re: sippy cups

cause im totally clueless!! the daycare teacher suggested i start replacing one bottle a day with a sippy cup to start the transition. So...right now DS has 4 bottles a day, a sippy cup with water and a sippy cup with juice. do i have to buy a 3rd sippy cup?? are they like bottles? one feeding per cup and then sterilize them?? do i keep using one cup? i never thought about this.

It has NEVER occurred to me to sterilize a sippy cup. I don't think you need to buy an additional one. It's not like you're going to be sterilizing his regular cups. FTR, I only sterilized bottles before the first use and if DD was sick. Just wash one out when he's done & fill it with formula.

Do you fill the sippy cups with juice/water before you get to daycare, or does the teacher do it there? We only have 1 sippy cup at school that gets used 3 times a day (the teachers wash it in between uses)- and it gets left there.

I don't sterilize my sippy cups like I did my bottles- I either hand wash them, or put them in the dish washer.

HTH!

I am impressed that you still sterilize bottles! Chat Icon

I run the sippy cups through the dishwasher after each use (or handwash if I need one right away) like I do all our cups and plates. I have about 15 or so sippys for the 2 boys. I would definitely suggest buying more to have. You will use them for a while Chat Icon
