Okay, why is my printer turning off and on by itself?
It does this once in a while, makes all these werid noises too. What the heck?

mine does that sometimes too.
i think it's cleaning itself or some kind of self-maintenace thing

printers can power down (you may see an amber color light instead of green) just like computers power down while not in use
