Me too. We used to always go Labor day week - it was a ghost town. Now that our kids are in school, we are forced to go on holidays Chat Icon

Yeah. I understand. Columbus Day week crowd projections actually don't look bad. Moderate crowds. you should be find with RD and TP

Are you actually there on labor day? We were thinking IF we go this year we would go 8/24-8/31 or 8/25-9/1. Right before my birthday and before DD#1 starts kindergarten. We have never been then - how do you find the crowds? I hear mixed things - we would hope to be gone by labor day weekend.

Yes we have been there 4 different years on labor day - really the crowds are nothing compared to the rest of the year. I would do the 8/25 - 9/1 week if you are looking for lower crowds. Do it before your DD starts K! Oh how I miss that week! Trying to schedule this year's trip has been a real nightmare.

I've heard this is one of the best weeks, but HOT. I can't go because I have vacation freeze in Aug and Sept. I also have it in Janauary, so I lose out on a lot of off season touring opps.

Re: Official Disney Vacation Countdown thread!

April 6-16, staying offsite.

I'm terrified of being there over easter break. I'm hoping it's not completely miserable. The past 3 years we've been in January and we've really been spoiled with no crowds, no lines. But this year we are doing a big family trip and the folks with school aged kids could only do easter. Ah well, at least we'll have our very own pool at our rental house to escape the masses!

Could you do a detailed trip report when you get back. This is where we are contemplating staying - since they have the Royal (princess) rooms. I would love to hear what you think of it. Are you doing ME or renting a car? I'm concerned about the buses because we won't have a car.

If you get there an hour early and hit RD every day and use FP well, you'll be fine. I talked to people who did dozens of attractions on CHristmas Day. Even on the busiest days, the parks don't fill up until 11.

The best plan for a busy week is to get there an hour early, hit RD riding all of the headliners and collecting Fastpasses (because of sooner windows, you can collect a lot more in the morning in a shorter time). Leave around lunchtime and come back after 4pm. Then while the lines are still longer use the fastpasses you collected earlier that day and see some shows and low crowd attractions (peoplemover, CoP, HoP, Captain EO, etc etc). By the time you're done with that, the lines will have died down again and/or it'll be time to get a parade/fireworks/fantasmic spot.

Re: Official Disney Vacation Countdown thread!

Planning on dec 3rd to dec 9th at the new art of animation resorts.

For 3 adults and 2 kids its roughly 4k. And we heard a rumor they are offering free dining all year, so that takes about 500$ off of total.

ooh. That's one of my favorite weeks to go.

Hate to say it but don't count on free dining that week. It's Pop Warner week, plus a lot of reunions, meetups, etc. and has been excluded from Free Dining in years past, including this past year. I think esp because of Pop Warner, they have no problem filling the resorts. It was the only week in Oct-Dec excluded this year that wasn't a holiday
ETA: Jersey week is also excluded

We went the same week in 2009 and got free dining.
