NYC trip....bring the stroller or not?
We are going to NYC the day after Christmas and staying at a hotel one night. My DDs are 6 and 4. We plan on doing the Museum of Natural History, and going to see the tree, dinner and few other little stops. Going to take subway/cabs mostly.
Should I bring the umbrella stroller? They could take turns sitting in it, but just not sure if it would be worse trying to get through the crowds. I know my 4 year old will complain about walking

I would take the umbrella stroller. It's also convenient to put your stuff on top of if you are indoors.

All I know is that by the tree it is SOOOO bad with the crowds that when I see strollers it gives me anxiety.
It might be ok for other areas though.

Since we are staying the night I'm planning to do the tree last later at night. Hopefully some people will have left by then. But I'm more worried about losing them in the crowd without the stroller lol

I hear you. Either way that area at this time of year gives me massive anxiety. I can't handle crowds like that- where you feel you are just being pushed along and it's wall to wall people. I start having a panic attack and it's not enjoyable even a little

I would bring the stroller. I did the tree two years ago without the stroller when DS 1 was 5 and DS 2 was just shy of 3 and I was wishing I had the stroller the whole time as I held onto them for dear life.
We have yet to go back and see the tree.

Museum of natural history is pretty far uptown. It is a lot of walking for a 4yo. I would bring a stroller. And if you are going to be up that way, the New York Historical Society is right next door to AMNH and they have a cute train exhibit going on. Nothing like the botanical garden exhibit but still well done. There is also a really nice children's section downstairs. We were there on a weekend and there was barely anyone there. It is a hidden gem.

I would not. My kids are that age and we went without for the last 2 years. We do the same stops. Yes, a stroller will get pushed and shoved in crowds. It makes it hard for you to enter where there are steps (museum). I use it when I have a small infant (under 2) for long distances like walking Central Park.

I would bring it, but then again I bring my stroller everywhere. I always find that I would rather have it than not, even it's just for extra storage.

Thanks for the tip on the train exhibit! Will definitely check it out if we have time.
